It was a great day of seeing dolphins, hole in the rock, and a nice beach/walk on a private island. We really enjoyed the tour!

“Highly recommended tour of the Islands”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2014

We did the half day (afternoon) tour. Worth every penny as we were fortunate enough to see Orca Whales on the way to the hole in the rock and many Dolphins on the way back. Friendly crew with good interaction and explanations. Due to waves we weren’t able to go through the hole in the rock, but to watch the crashing waves was quite impressive. Interesting Island stop with nice landscape.

“Hole in the Rock/Dolphin Cruise - A fantastic experience for all the family.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2014

We took the morning Dolphin Cruise departing at 9am from Paihia, stood in the queue on the shady side of the wharf, freezing in the cold morning air while waiting to board. Staff still seemed to be preparing for the day and boarding was delayed even further by the photographer wanting to take photo’s of everyone as they boarded.

Once aboard we found seats upstairs and thawed out slightly in the sunshine. After a quick stop to pick up more passengers at Russell we finally headed out around the islands to look for dolphins. We were lucky to quickly find a pod of dolphins who put on a fabulous show. Really lovely to see these creatures in the wild, a thrilling experience for adults and children alike. The trip through the Hole in the Rock was impressive and our short stop at Urupukapuka Island was a great chance to explore the beach and surrounding area. Such a shame there’s no longer a store or anything available there for visitors on the island, not even toilets. However, it was good to note that the prices charged on board for drinks and snacks are very reasonable.

The Dolphin Seeker is well equipped, immaculately presented and efficiently run. The commentary was informative and entertaining without being intrusive. We thoroughly enjoyed our Dolphin Cruise and recommend you put this on your itinerary when you’re in the Bay of islands.

“Cape Brett "Hole in Rock" Tour”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2014

This was very good tour on a good weather day and it did what is said on the tin " the boat went through the hole in the rock" and out into the Pacific! We boarded the boat in Russell which had started from Pahia and so was already very full. The boat was quite large but small enough to pass through the hole in the rock but was so crowded that seeing, let alone taking pictures, of the dolphins and penguins seen on the way out was very difficult and so detracted somewhat from the experience. On the return the boat stopped at a picturesque bay on one of the islands where a walk to the top of a nearby hill gave some wonderful views of the bay and the islands. Overall it was good trip slightly marred by being crowded. Conversely bigger boats can't go through the hole so you do get what you pay for.

“Fantastic trip!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2014

We had a brilliant trip out to hole in the rock and around the islands, but seeing the dolphins was by far the most exciting part of the trip. Stopping at Urupukapuka Island was stunning and peaceful. Well worth the money!
