We had left a great B&B in Waiheke and had just driven 3 hours to Clearwater Retreat. I had just had my best B&B stay in Waiheke and thought there was nothing else close to it.... I was wrong. Greg & Jeannie are just incredible, this was a top notch experience from the first moments we met them.

Upon arrival- tea, coffee and a great chocolate cake & fresh cream that Jeannie made. They were great conversationalists and make terrific suggestions for restaurants, excursions.... we were so happy.

Next- the room. WOW!! Spotless, comfy bed, great shower, view of the river with a great deck. Rose petals on the bed....Sunny & bright, was the perfect choice for staying near Paihia. Later that first evening, they invited us to have wine with them in their living room, getting to know them was a highlight for us-they are an incredible couple.

Breakfasts- Greg makes the best bread I have ever had in my life.... being a carb -aholic this is quite a statement, but true! The breakfast was fabulous and they asked daily what you preferred and delivered. They even had breakfast ready for us at 6:30 am so we could go diving - so hospitable. The last day we had breakfast on the back deck with the river so close, just peaceful. No better way to start your day.

Greg made reservations for us at a local winery for our last night and went above and beyond for us to ensure it was a special night. My husband & I will never forget this thoughtful gesture.

Clearwater Retreat is a great location for the Bay of Islands and even driving to Ninety Mile Beach, I would say it would be a great base for this area. Greg & Jeannie know so much about the area and will not lead you astray. They want this to be a special experience for their guests and they deliver. They work so well as a team to make your time at their home memorable.
