I only spent one night, but have no complaints.
A friendly meeting on our arrival, and a clean and comfortable room. Can't really comment on the facilities as I wasn't there long enough to use them, but they looked good.
Location wise, you'll need a car really. There's a supermarket just down the road, but the main attractions are in Paihia, about 4-5km away.
Nearby, Haruru falls are worth a visit, and there's a pleasant trek through the forest to Waikito from there.
