“Great Stay”

This is a great accomodation. Any one that states otherwise is completely nuts!
We stayed in the Hobson Suite and it was very clean, comfortable and absolutely beautiful (very modern). The veiw ...amazing. Breakfast was really nice too.
I must compliment Mikeand Alan the hosts. They were very welcoming.

Arrived after a long drive from Auckland and were seriously impressed. Stayed in the "Island View" room which was reached by its own little flight of stairs down the side of the building. The room and bathroom were very modern and spotless, and the bedroom has a sliding glass door giving access to the deck with it's own private hot tub! Having a glass of champagne in there at sunset was amazing. I was lucky enough also to wake up just as the sun was rising across the bay and the sunrise was just beautiful. Breakfast was served on the deck - fruit, cereal and a cooked breakfast too with coffee and juice.
The centre of Paihia can be reached by a 10-ish minute walk (although the walk up the hill after a few drinks takes a bit longer!).

Following the twisty road up the hill brings you to Tarltons and the view is second to none. We were made to feel incredibly welcome and the room was spotless and incredibly comfortable.

Sipping champagne in the hot tub overlooking the bay was a great way to end a day. Having spent a very comfortable night in a snuggly bed, we woke up to have a fresh and delicious breakfast. Spending a leisurly time lingering over a delicious coffee was the perfect way to spend a sunday morning.

We would definitely recommend this place to anyone. Can't wait to go back and try the infiniti pool.

We were booked (and confirmed) at the lodge for our honeymoon over New Years (this coming December). We got in early as we are away at a busy time. Our credit card details expired at the end of June, so when we got the confirmation letter they asked us to send the new details when we received them. So, in July I sent away the new details (we were not being charge until we departed) and received one of the rudest letters in response that I have ever read. They simply said they had given the room to someone else as we had not made contact since March! We were promt with sending the new details, and you would think that if someone else requested the room they would check with us first if they had not received the card details. This would also mean that someone requested the room in the 1 week that our card had expired - so surely a quick email to check with us is not a problem, and is only polite. You would also think they would request deposits if room bookings were so 'fragile' and open to being cancelled at their whims.
We are extremely disappointed with the way that they handled the matter and the unapologetic manner in which they told us it was our fault. We are a bit stuck now as it is too late for any other honeymoon destinations. Sadly, we think we will have to forgo our airfares and find somewhere else.
Be wary!

Im surprised, and a little suspicious, of all these rave reviews. Our experience was anything but wonderful. We found the hosts hard to deal with and while the room was quite nice (although pricey for what it really was) they over shadowed the whole thing.

My partner and I stayed at Tarltons Lodge for two nights and we both wished we could have stayed longer.
We were in Hobsons Suite and the accomodation was faultless.
The view from our room was stunning to say the very least and our host Alan was a gem.
Our breakfast was cooked to order both mornings and set us up for the day.
The hot tub on the deck was the perfect place to relax with a glass of bubbles after a long day of exploring the local area.
I really can't recommend Tarltons Lodge enough, like Mary Poppins... practically perfect in every way.

We stayed in 'the nest', which is really just one room. But what a room, it has two lovely leather armchairs sat by the full width picture window. We could have sat all day and night looking out of the window, or on the decking outside. I recommend this B & B for the room; the hosts who cook a great breakfast and chat to you whilst doing so and for the absolutely stunning view over the Bay of Islands. We lay in bed and watched the sun come up and go down! Its a few minutes walk from Paihia centre, but its a nice walk up a steep hill and the view is well worth it.
