Went here with my wife and new boss, so technically it was with friends...
Supurb setting on the waterfront street of Napier. I expected great things, as this is pretty much the most expensive restaurant in town. And I wasn't dissapointed. A great selection of wine and beer at the bar, an array of wonderful food, a very well-schooled hostess...fantastic.
We had the "8 tastings with wine" which involved a selection of all of the different meals they had there, and an accompanying vino to go with it. Each course had a story as it was delivered to the table, and the wine which came out just before each course was expertly discussed and explained why this one came out with the course that was on its way.
So good to have quality of food and wine with an equal quality of food and wine knowledge!!
My only gripe - I couldn't normally justify the expense of this - right up there in the higer bracket - but as something different, its a good "once a year" place to dine.
