“In the best bit of Napier!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

Its not the CBD but just a 5 minute stroll to West Quay with 5-6 restaurants and bars. To be honest, if you are a visitor to Napier you need a car anyway, so the fact its not in the middle doesn't matter. It's very clean, staff are friendly and efficient and the rooms are a really good size with all you need. Then there's Milk and Honey at the front!

Dear Andrew B
Thanks for your lovely feedback and glad you enjoyed some of the local restaurants!

Ahuriri is definitely a great area to experience the many restaurants, bars, and boutique shops.

We look forward to hopefully welcoming you back to The Crown Hotel in the not too distant future.

We were concerned at first that we weren't in the heart of Napier, but this is the best place to be. It is in a suburb of Ahuriri, a short taxi ride or car journey to town. Go to Napier in the day and then dine and drink in Ahuriri at night.
Nice, small apartment with kitchenette, very clean, and had everything we needed.

Have stayed here a number of times over the years - and my family even more so. Always get one of the water facing rooms and love how relaxed you immediately feel sitting back and looking over that view.

Rooms are in excellent condition, beds comfortable and quality linen.

All staff are very friendly and helpful.

Really wish they would address the wifi issue though. Only cable Internet is available in rooms unless you use the 1 hour free Go WiFi service. Otherwise you need to go down to the reception area to use iPad. Apparently changes are being made but they said that 12 months ago too!

Enjoy the area around the hotel too - the large provisions store is about 5 minutes walk away. We always enjoy the local Indian place and the Flying Dutchman for good fish and chips. There is a lovely new cupcake shop opened up opposite and we use Milk and Honey for Breakfast. Have previously enjoyed a good pizza underneath too.

Highly recommend a visit.

Room Tip: Sea facing

Thank you for your feedback and also thank you for your continued support of The Crown Hotel when you come back to stay in Hawkes Bay.

The installation of WiFi to the Hotel I agree, has been a little bit of a longer process then what we expected however I am pleased to advise that I am just awaiting a contract in order for me to sign it off for installation next month (April).

So fingers crossed upon your return to the Crown Hotel it will all be up and running.

We look forward to welcoming you back.

we stayed here for four nights in a two bedroom apartment with seaviews. the hotel room was very clean and spacious. The room was cleaned very day and fresh towels were provided. we were a little unaware that the hotel was not central to napier town so a car or some sort of transport would be recommended. Over all very happy with choice of hotel for a wine packed four days.

Staying at the Ahuriri area of Napier is a treat, with the relaxed vibe of the port and the harbour area a bonus. Within a few minutes walk from your room there are interesting restaurants, long beach and promenade walks, one of the most fascinating and well-stocked antique shops I have ever visited, leafy parks and streetfront cafes to linger in. The Crown Hotel is well located near the beach and offers truly delicious breakfasts, lunches and other treats at its"Milk & HoneY restaurant on the ground floor, looking out to the sea. All the food we had was freshly prepared and of the best quality, and presented with local flair. The rooms were immaculate and well equipped. Wifi was available after checking with the Reception desk. We would definitely choose to stay in this hotel again.

Room Tip: most rooms have sea views and balconies.

We had an apartment on level 1 with a balcony facing the shops and a partial view of the sea. Great, modern facilities, very comfortable king bed and checkout is 11am so a bit later than most and allows for a nice sleep in! Location is quiet and balconies get late afternoon sun which you don't get in other parts of the Napier seafront. Close for walking around to the bars and restaurants of West Quay.
Would definitely stay again!

Room Tip: We think the best room would be corner apartment on floor 2 or 3 as you would get the sea view and l...

Modern, clean, good facilities and very helpful staff.
Not in the centre of the action but plenty of local restaurants close by.
Good value and a good place to stay with modern and well kept facilities
