“Lovely accommodation, fantastic hosts!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2013

We were having a one night stay in Napier as part of a 3 week whislte stop tour of NZ and we couldn't have asked for a better place than here 119 on Georges!

As soon as we booked, Wendy got in touch to ask if we wanted to use the bikes (unfortunately we didn't have time to do so) and whether we wanted an evening meal cooking for us. As we were only in Napier the one night, we decided we wouldn't take them up on the offer as we wanted to see a bit of Napier in the short time we had.

Wendy and Pete made us feel so welcome in their home on arrival and we joined them early in the evening for a glass of wine out by their pool, which was a lovely way to share what we had been and would be doing on our holiday!

They kindly recommended and booked us into a lovely Italian for our evening meal, which I forget the name of now but was one of the best meals of the holiday... as was Pete's cooked breakfast the next morning!!

The room we had was lovely, very elegantly decorated with a clean, modern bathroom.

Really glad we stayed here, just wish it had been for a little longer!!

Wendy and Peter have a gift of making you feel so welcomed and real guests in their house. Before we arrived we were asked [emailed] to see whether we wanted an evening meal - ofcourse - and would a BBQ be OK. It was a lovely start to our stay and made it very special to chat informally and sit down to dinner with our hosts. The bedroom/ensuite was comfortable, clean and tastefully decorated. More bathroom products would have been useful. There was enough room for myself and my friend even though we had a lot of luggage. Wendy and Peter were very helpful and provided us with lots of useful information. We were slightly puzzled about whether the lounge was for guest use or not. We both felt we could not use it during the evening. It wasn't clear. However a delightful property and highly recommended for a short stay in a beautiful town.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review and we are pleased you enjoyed your stay. Guests are welcome in our lounge area when we share our complimentary evening drink at the end of the day, and also if they decide on an optional evening meal with us. I am sorry you felt we didn't offer sufficient toiletries. We will ensure this doesn't happen in the future. Do hope you continued to enjoy your time in New Zealand and have taken home some wonderful memories.

We only stayed one night at 119 Georges but would have loved to stay longer. Our room, just like the whole house, was very tastefully decorated, the bed was supercomfortable and the bathroom spacious and squeaky clean. Although the room was facing Georges Drive it was quiet enough - not many cars passing during the night and tight-closing windows. It's an easy 20-minute stroll to the center of town.

Our hosts Pete & Wendy were very helpful and friendly - Pete even took us to the airport in the morning after the two had served us a sumptous and delicious breakfast we very much enjoyed. It was certainly on of the best breakfasts we had during our 2.5 month journey through Australia and New Zealand.

Thank you so much for taking the time to post a review and also for the very positive feedback. You certainly had the weather right for your flight back to Auckland and great that you had such a wonderful week exploring and flying around New Zealand in the Cessna. We hope the Abel Tasman went well for you and best wishes to you both in the future.

We have stayed at many B&B while visiting O/S so now used to doing it..
Booked on line and arrived to a nicely renovated older house.
Tapped on the door and was greeted by a very friendly lady and it got better as the day went on.
Both Peter and Wendy have a real gem here. They have only been in the B&B for round 12 months, and from what they said it has been so busy.
6 pm is a get together with the guests in the lounge and this was a really great time, everybody got to know the others.
The house is beautifully done inside and out. The rooms are very comfortable, and one can have a good nights sleep.
Pet is the man when it comes to breakfast, he can give you a full restaurant meal and is was soooo nice. thanks mate
The last of the Americas cup was on so we all spent time together watching the race..
The B&B is quite central and lots of eating places with in walking distance, and some others a little further out.
Just ask Wendy and she will help out.
Plenty of other attractions of all kinds
Well what can I say.....If you are ever in Napier and need a bed then give these guys a call and you will have a time you will remember ...This was one of our best stays.thanks guys..

We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay at 119 as we thoroughly enjoyed our time with you both. The absolute highlight of operating a Bed and Breakfast are the people we meet, hearing of their travel experiences, the great times they've had and of course that they find 119 a relaxing, comfortable and convenient place to stay. Hope you enjoyed the Hot Laps!! Best wishes to you and Sandy and thank you for choosing to stay with us.

This was only our second stay in a B&B, and we couldn't have asked for anything more. Wendy & Peter were the ultimate hosts, from our 6.00pm get together, to our breakfast to booking our wine tour with Prinsy's Tours, and giving great suggestions on where to dine out and go sightseeing. Our shared home cooked evening dinner with Wendy and Peter was a great get to know each other session. The location was great being only a couple of minutes drive to the centre of Napier.
I would recommend staying at 119 on George's to anyone wanting something quiet and relaxed with the added advantage of fantastic hosts.

Our stay as guests of Wendy and Pete at their boutique bed & breakfast known as '119 ongeorges,' was the memorable reservation of our travels through New Zealand. Not only was the accommodate inviting, spacious, very comfortable - all that we could ask for; it was the hosts that made the stay so special. The evening wine and appetizers along with the lively and informative conversation about New Zealand and Napier in particular, made for a richer experience than any travel guide could have provided. Pete's hot breakfast special is not to be missed; abundant and prepared to perfection. Wendy and Pete genuinely love people and will do everything they can to ensure your stay is tops. We only wish NZ were not so far away because we would be regular guests, given the opportunity!

Room Tip: There are only two rooms and both are lovely.

I'll admit, I was a little leery of staying some place that didn't have at least 4 stars on Trip Advisor. In fact, when I booked, it didn't have *any* reviews. However, when I looked the place up, it was clear that they just got started, so I decided to take a chance.

We were looking for a place in Hawke's Bay to stay on our 16 day New Zealand roadtrip. Location didn't seem all that great, but when I looked at the town, Napier is pretty small and it was a flat walk to the downtown area - maybe 20 minutes, so I decided it wasn't a deal breaker. It was reasonably priced (includes a HUGE breakfast) and had parking, Internet, a place to do laundry, etc so the price was a good value.

The place is quiet, charming and comfortable. The room and bathroom were quite large and very clean. The room lacks air conditioning, but Napier was having really pleasant weather, so we slept with the windows open and it was quite comfortable.

The real reason to stay here ? Your hosts, Pete & Wendy! They were really great. First, before I arrived, they emailed once they got the reservation, just being proactive. Then, as I wanted something couriered ahead, I contacted them and they took care of it without problem. Once we arrived, they made things super easy for us and we enjoyed some wine and conversation just hanging out of the back patio! It was really great to just hang out with real Kiwis and chat.

All in all, we are so glad we stayed here! Though Pete & Wendy just opened the B&B, Pete is an experienced hospitality industry veteran. They have a lovely home and are really lovely people. Hopefully, by the time more people read this review, there will be many people echoing our experience, so I won't quite feel like a shill, but honestly, it was a great stay and I'd highly recommend it.

Pro tip: If I were staying multiple nights, I'd probably have them cook us dinner at least one night. They are foodies and I think dinner with them would have been awesome (next time!) Pete also catches whitebait in season, so if you want to taste a real true New Zealand original, book a dinner with them and ask for them to make you some Whitebait fritters (Mid august to the end of November, if I recall correctly.)

Hi Dave, It has been a few months now since you stayed here at 119 on georges in Napier, New Zealand and thank you for taking a chance on a B and B which had no previous reviews!!!
