we stayed in napier on dec4th &5th 2012 with the intention off playing golf in cape kidnappers. we actually stayed in clie a small village close to the golf course for handiness sake, the clive hotel is the name clean and well stocked but more off a motel rooms are across the road in a backlot 2 story terrace type but as i said clean and well stocked of utensils. napier is a 12 minute drive away, a lovely city with art deco buildings lots of restraunts and mueseums etc we stayed in the crown hotel a lovely 5 star hotel on the seafront, the staff cuoldnt be more helpful and pleasant, cant praise it highly enough, myself and son went golfing on tuesday ad left the women to explore napier. we drove out along clifton road its a good bit out and when you arrive at gates off golf club you intercom with golf shop and gates are opened with a further 8 kilometer drive thru forest. we had been looking forward to playing this course so much it turned out to be an anti climax, the stsaff are american ad very nice and hospitable, but the course was a little bit of a let down , maybe we were expecting to much and the guy greeting us on finishing said we probaly played it when it was not at its best, but it was memorable all the same. p.s golf courses in ireland are just as good and some better, and arevery underrated by the international watchdogs.
