“Beautiful haven”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2012

We stayed at Redcliffe for 3 nights over the Art Deco Weekend. I can only wholeheartedly endorse everything that has been said in the prevous reviews. Tea and homemade chcocolate brownies on arrival was our introduction to a stay that exceed our expections. We stayed in the luxurious and spacious Burgundy room with its private verandah where we could sit in peaceful, lush garden surroundings. The modern bathroom had toiletries and soft, thick towels on the electric towel rail (bliss).Breakfast time was flexble. The food delicious and plentiful, the fresh fruit salad and just- baked muffins being my favourite. Sue went to a lot of trouble providing dairy- free options to cater for my lactose intolerance. She is a superb cook and our evening meal was top quality.
Sue and Brian have done a great job in restoring this magnificent homestead. Set in a quiet location, with lawn, garden, trees and a kiwi orchard, it is a special and restful place to holiday. They also make an important contribution to the environment with a strong focus on all aspects of eco awareness in the running of the bed and breakfast. As attentive hosts, the couple made us feel so welcome, and provided a most enjoyable and relaxing environment for our holiday. We will certainly be back again.

We stayed here for 3 nights this February. What a superb bed and breakfast. We were treated like family during our stay.

We stayed in the Burgandy Room which had it's own private verandah. The room was very comfortably furnished and spotlessly clean. The ensuite shower room was fabulous and eco friendly toiletries were provided together with dressing gowns and white fluffy towels,

Sue and Brian, the hosts, were so friendly and helpful and will book restaurant reservations and advise on tours etc. Sue's cooking was amazing. The breakfasts were really yummy (home made muffins to die for, choice of cereals/home made muesli, croissants, the best grapefruit juice I have ever tasted from their own grapefruit, various preserves, toast, coffee/tea, yoghurts, fresh fruit. We really enjoyed our chats over breakfast and also at night when we returned from a day's sightseeing.

We didn't eat at night at the Homestead but I believe Sue will prepare an evening meal if you wish and judging by the breakfasts would be delicious.

The Homestead is in a lovely setting in Taradale, really near to the wineries and very handy for Napier. At the Homestead every amenity is provided (guest laundry facilities including dryer and powder - free of charge, fridge/freezer for you to use, chilly back packs for picnic lunches to name but a few)

Sue and Brian also have 2 adorable Labradors, Sophie and Zara who are so well behaved and a joy to have around.

In summary, if you are visiting Napier, and want to stay in a unique and friendly home with good food and have every comfort look no further - book now.

Redcliffe Homestead is a woderful haven. You wake up in the Burgundy room and feel that you are in the garden of Eden- lush green trees, birdsong, the warmth of native timbers under foot. This stay will sooth your soul. I have travelled the world for forty years and have rarely stayed in a more congenial environment. The care with which the property has been restored, the gentle presence of your hosts, Brian and Sue, and the backdrop of kiwi and citrous fruit growing around you will give you a sense of well-being and you will feel, like me, that it was time well-spent.

This is luxury accommodation at it's finest and Hawke's Bay best kept secret... The B&B is in an immaculate, lovingly restored home in a tranquil setting, and has a beautiful garden to match. You will be treated to home preserves, home baking, home-made muesli and a cordon bleu meal if you decide you'd like an evening meal there. I thorougly recommend this establisment and will be back!

Room Tip: The Burgundy Room is very spacious and luxury plus with french doors leading out to a private garden...

We spent two nights at Redcliffe and have no qualms about giving it a 5star rating. Sue and Brian are first class hosts, helping with wine tours, restaurant recommendations and even giving us a lift to Mission Estate winery for dinner.
The house has been lovingly restored and makes for a very comfortable base, with the added attraction of being surrounded by their own kiwifruit orchard. They are situated in Taradale which is about 10-15mins out of Napier but then has the advantage of being closer to most of the wineries; overall a memorable stay

We had a wonderful two night stay at Redcliffe and were treated almost as part of the family. As we were staying over New Years I had emailed Sue in advance to check if the wineries would be open. Sue sought some details on our likes etc and sent me many suggestions of things to do in Hawke's Bay as well as offering to make any bookings for us (after she had already checked on availability).Sue is a fabulous cook and her morning muesli and freshly baked muffins and slices were a treat. Brian was a charming host and I enjoyed our evening chats. The location was perfect, a few minutes from Napier and the wineries and other sites. The grounds were also beautiful and Sophie and Zhara, were the two best behaved labradors I have come across. I thoroughly recommend Redcliffe

Two friends and I stayed for two nights at Redcliffe in November 2011. Our accommodation was clean, comfortable and well appointed. Comfortable beds and bedding, luxurious towels and robes were much appreciated. Hosts Sue and Brian were kind, hospitable, considerate and knowledgable about the area and activities available. Breakfast which included fresh fruit, homemade muesli and freshly baked muffins provided a great start to the day. Canine co-hosts, Sophie and Zara were non-intrusive and fun to have about. A walk through the extensive gardens and orchard was a relaxing diversion after much travel.

I would highly recommend Redcliffe Homestead and hope I will be fortunate to make return visits.
