The other reviews I read pointed us to this little cafe, north of Napier and set in the little township of Westshore. We didnt book so took a risk and we proved to be lucky, getting the last table in the restaurant. Plain and simple and seating about 40 the restaurant is separate to the takeaway area and judging by the amount of cars waiting outside, I reckon that is doing a roaring trade as well. We settled in with a Stella and a Corona although the wine list is small but lively, and opened up with a fish basket. The waitress apologised that they had run out of oysters on this slightly damp Sunday night, but we had a fine selection of seafood nonetheless and it was served, in a basket (more often than not the term "basket" is just a term, mostly being served on a plate or bowl), very lightly battered, and, beautiful. The babe ordered terakihi with chips and a home made cole slaw while I had the blue cod with wedges and a fresh salad, generously sprinkled with sunflower seeds. Baby had hers crumbed and mine was lightly battered. Both were so beautiful we were reluctant to share, but we did. All around us people were commenting on how good the food was and praising the owner as they left. We did the same and although she tried to tempt us with a slice of homemade dutch apple pie, we had to refuse, we were full, and, believe me , the reviews are all correct. This is a little gem. They do meat dishes too of course but I did not see anyone ordering from the land. Dont drive past this wonderful little cafe. All credit to its lovely owner and her family, a wonderful night of fishy delights!

I recognize your "misses" on the photo and remember you didn't have the nicest table of the restaurant so I'm happy you still enjoyed your evening.
I also remember talking about our and your plans for 2013!
May they all come true!
