By taking a late afternoon guided walk I was lucky to be in a group of two: myself and the volunteer guide. Other tours through the day were more crowded, as a big cruise ship was in town. The guides can pick out things you may miss on a self-guided tour, and have a good knowledge of local history. The guided minibus tour earlier in the afternoon spent too much time at Bluff Hill Lookout, I thought, which affords a view of the docks where the cruise ships moor, but didn't have much to do with art deco. It did, though, afford an opportunity to see art deco buildings in the suburbs of Ahuriri and Marewa. The Trust's shop is well worth a visit, with lots of art deco objets d'art, books and posters for sale. It's also staffed by volunteers, who made a splendid effort to sort out an error that had occurred with my bus tour booking.

Thanks for taking the time to post your review. I'm sorry to hear that there was an error with your Deco Bus tour booking, but am pleased that your experience of the tour and the guided walk didn't detract from our mistake. Cruise ship days are always busy for us, but we love getting dressed up and creating a little bit of the atmosphere of the 1930s for our visitors!
