Spent two nights in Napier at the Fairley motor lodge and can say it was probably the best of many motels we stayed at in NZ. Very friendly hosts and excellent rooms with everything you could need. A 5 minute drive into town and very handy for the airport.

We were visiting with our daughter in Porirua and decided to see some of the North Island whilst here. Our first stop was Napier and whilst this motel is out of town, it took only about 5 minutes to drive to the edge of town and to lots of free parking. From there it was only a 2-3 minute walk along the Promenade into Napier centre, with lots to see along the way.
There are also some nice restaurants and bars close by, overlooking the marina, for a relaxing evening drink and meal and an interesting walkway around the estuary.
The rooms are spotlessly clean, well proportioned and nicely furnished. We had the Executive One Bedroomed Appartment with super king sized bed and spa bath.
There was a comfortable settee and a single bed, made up as a day bed with lots of cushions, in the lounge area. A small dining table and 2 comfortable chairs. A desk, chair and free wifi. The kitchen corner was well equiped with two hot plates and a microwave and a whole range of kitchen equipment. There was a flat screen tv, with some Sky channels.
The bedroom was comfortatble with another flatscreen tv, wardrobe, dressing table and alarm clock/radio.
Breakfasts can be ordered and there are drink and snacks available 24 hours.
Guest laundry.
Hugh was most helpful and very friendly.
We would definitely return to this motel and would recommend it to anyone..
Large bathroom with spabath and shower over.

Thank you for your time giving us such a great review. It is obvious you appreciated our location just by the beach but within walking distance of the historic area of Ahuriri with its many restaurants, art galleries and interesting shops.Hopefully we shall see you again in Napier

Located a bit out of town, the accommodations are clean, quiet and satisfactory with hosts very friendly. While we did not really need it during our stay, air conditioning is pretty weak. Rooms are getting a bit dated.

Thank you for your review. We are pleased we are 'a bit out of town (ie 4km from the cbd)It is quiet, a few metres from the beach and also the unique wildlife estuary. Also within walking distance of the old fishing port of Ahuriri with more than 15 excellent restaurants A real plus. We would love you to come back and stay because it sounds as though you didn't appreciate our special area. We were awarded Qualmark 4star plus and also passed the strict Best Western standards last year We would like to upgrade our aircon but all units have good ventilation with the rear of most units leading onto courtyards. We always have extra fans, heaters ,pillow menu, firm chairs and will assist you with any special requirements and would rather you ask, rather than depart feeling as though we were just satisfactory.

Back in Napier, so I returned to Fairley to see if it was as good as before - yes folks it was and this visit Hugh suggested I take one of their free of charge bikes for a ride up the nearby coastal trail - fab. Jane and Hugh are generous with their local knowledge and I was directed a gorgeous farmers market one day then Elephant Hill Winery for dinner, on another. Meanwhile back at the motel -comfortable bed, nice airy quiet room, good value stay - a given.

Hugh and Jane were so nice to us and their place is spotless and quiet, the perfect place to stay while exploring Napier and N. Havelock. We stayed in a studio and it had a tub and shower, a great firm bed, and plenty of hospitality. The kitchenette added options too. It is just steps away from the bay and the walking/biking paths and paragliding. Highly recommended.

The motor lodge is conveniently located near the beach and the beginning of the cycle way. It provides easy access to the Ahuriri port, cafes and recreational areas.

Jane and Hugh proved to be excellent and humorous hosts. They provided us with friendly and helpful information regarding local events and attractions.

Room Tip: We have now stayed at Fairley motor lodge 4 times, in 4 different units, and always had a great bed
