After a days driving and settled into our B&B, we walked along the port area looking for dinner. The Thirsty Whale caught our eye and we had a thoroughly enjoyable meal and evening. Prompt and friendly service and great food; in fact one of the BEST seafood chowders we had in NZ....lots of seafood and prawns with crunchy ciabatta. Excellent start to the meal which we followed with a Whale Platter (a little disappointing as mostly fried seafood) and a tasty seafood trio all washed down with a Coopers Shed Pinot Noir. Not a cheap dinner, but worth every cent: ambiance, good food and service and wonderful setting. Recommend
