Looking forward to pleasant shelter from a cold winters night to spend time with best friends who are our regular dining companions. Very friendly and helpful staff. We settled in for what we hoped would be a convivial mouth watering experience. The menu expressed the chef's creativity and we had no problem choosing from the range of entrees and mains on offer.
Our friends recommended a "special" ... "Pork Belly Sliders". Several tender slices of pork belly served on miniature buns with a BBQ sauce. A wonderful blend of textures and favours. The mains were served after just the right interval and we were all pleased with our choices.
The Grain fed Wakanui sirloin, sauteed potatoes, onion rings and bearnaise sauce came with a shared bowl of green beans and seasonal roast vegetables. Generous portions arrived piping hot from the busy kitchen. A most satisfying choice. My companions enjoyed a fine dish of braised venison.....tender and delicious.
With little room left for a dessert, we decided to share a concoction of fig ice cream, caramel crumb and berries. Tasty and generous enough to satisfy our waning appetite.
However, by this time we were having difficulty in making conversation. Two large parties arrived an hour after we had and the sound level went up by several decibels. This is a trend these days in Hamilton and it is just good luck if you can enjoy an evening of fine dining without having to lean forward with a cupped hand to the ear in order to hear your companions.
