“Good Value for money, and very clean.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2009

My friend and I stayed there for the Spring Rose Convention. Although it is an older style motel, we found it very clean, comfortable beds, with the linen changed daily, what more could you want than a comfortable bed, clean linen daily and a nice hot shower. It also obviously being updated. It was handy to our venue. I would stay there again.

A work colleague and I stayed here during the annual Mystery Creek Field Days (120,000 people visit the city at this time). Only accommodation we could get near the city at this time due to a late decision to go. The motel booklet states how the current managers have not had their lease renewed so no more upgrades would be made. Talk about in a time warp - shower from the 70's with a curtain, motel until could sleep four and the bathroom had to be accessed through the bedroom which was hopeless for those sleeping in the lounge area. Heat pump was ineffectual, oven didn't go, batteries in tv remote were flat (not a major, but they shouldn't have been), two yapping dogs in the office area. Can't say one positive thing about the place.

This was a good location for me as I was travelling back towards Auckland airport from the Mount Manganui peninsula and needed an overnight stop. The motel is situated on the edge of town, less than 5 mins from the main highway, so you can avoid all the town centre traffic. Also, it is only 5 mins from the Hamilton Gardens which are certainly worth a visit if you have 2-3 hours to spare.

The motel has basic facilities - nothing outstanding, but is clean and comfortable. The apartments are all ground floor, and the lounge has a separate dining area, fully equipped kitchen, and the bedroom is a bit small. Bathroom area has shower and toilet. There is a Pizza Hut ,and McDonalds & other takeaways within 5-10 mins walk, but other restaurants are downtown. But I found this OK for one night. There is a very small swimming pool, which is not heated, and was available, but as the spa pool was being renovated and evidence of the work in process, e.g tools, I chose not to use it.
