“Average type of motel to stay.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2012

I stayed here while having a tour to New Zealand had to catch morning flight to Christchurch this was reason to choose this motel reason as it being close to Hamilton airport. Overall motel had average rooms, furniture, wall, carpet were a bit outdated, no towels in room, expired beers, cheese and crackers expired in 2010. Never seen such a thing in any of the cheapest motel through New Zealand etc. Very costly food I being 100% vegetarian had very limited options. Then I spoke to Cute little Indian girl (Ankita) receptionist there who was very understanding and kind. I being from India explained her she then personally spoke to her chef and we got egg curry in way we wanted. Even then cost was way too high for $20.00 which included hardly some table rice and curry inclusive of only one egg.

Room Tip: no idea as stayed there only for one night and had room which was not facing road side.

Have stayed here before and would definately recommend it, rooms are clean and tidy and staff are friendly . love the fact you can order food at any time of the day or night which is great if you get in late or have an early flight, no need to pack food or leave early to find somewhere to eat... very handy!

Room Tip: the two bedroon family rooms are spacious and well set up

The room was large, super clean & quiet considering it is so close to the airport. The beds were comfortable and there was a good supply of tea/coffee etc. Check in was speedy & got good information from the receptionist. However, the place is looking a bit tired and could do with a spruce up & the cost of the meals was terrible - $36 for fish & chips!
We stayed here because of the proximity to Mystery Creek event centre and feel the pricing of both food & rooms reflected that fact that there was no competition for miles.

Room Tip: Upstairs would be more private, with less people movement.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your feedback. We have been progressively upgrdaing our rooms and recently fitted all rooms with new flat screen televisions. The next stage is to work through the painting of the accommodation as we are aware it is overdue. Glad to see that we have a high cleanliness standard as this is most important to us. I will revisit our menu prices with my Chef to ensure that we can be competitive with our pricing of meals.

My daughter and I spent a night there earlier this week. It was a last minute booking as we were flying from Hamilton Airport the following morning. Very handy to the airport, only a few mins walk across the carpark and you are there!
Very friendly guy on reception when we booked in at about 10pm.
We were in a standard room, which was very large, room and bathroom. Nice and tidy. Little disappointed by the condition of a few of the walls, needed some work. But apart from that very tidy.
Lovely lady in restaurant where we had breakfast the following am. Good priced breakfasts also.
Very helpful manager? who came to help when phone in room wouldn't work. Very prompt in coming to the room, and was more than happy to give access to another room that was empty to use another phone when problem couldn't be sorted.
Overall it was a nice place to stay and would stay again if flying from haimlton Airport.

Thank you for your feedback on your recent stay. Pleased to say the phone problem was minor and was sorted on the day and we are undertaking refurbishments on this block of rooms which includes painting and carpeting. We are in the process of installing new flat screen televisions to start with and plan to start the refurbishments shortly. Once again thank you for your feedback

Excellent place if you have an early flight out of Hamilton. AND you can leave your car there at no cost. Friendly helpful staff.

Unless it was for an overnight due to an early/late flight I doubt I'd stay here as an individual.

I have stayed here twice for 5 days over the past two years travelling with an underage sporting group. As far as that was concerned the location was great as the kids were pretty much in lock-down and couldn't get up to much trouble because the only thing nearby was the airport.
Rooms: Dated but comfortable enough and clean.
Food: the food they provided for our group was generally excellent.
Location: right next to the airport, not right next to anything else.
Internet: This would be the one thing I would urge them to fix. The wireless was erratic at best and generally only worked in the lobby.
TV: Some people have commented about the TV - it may have been old but it worked okay.
Price: I don't know what our group paid per night so can't comment on the price.
Only other gripe would be that the housekeeping staff would open the window after cleaning the room every morning - in the middle of winter, it was not a great way to come back - but the heater worked pretty well.
Would stay here with a group or if I had to catch a flight and no prob recommending it for that. As a base for a holiday I'd probably look elsewhere.
The area is stunning though!

We were in Hamilton during the NZ vs Japan RWC game and chose this place 'cos honestly, it was the only one that didn't charge an arm and leg plus we'd get free parking. I was very apprehensive as I've never stayed at an airport hotel/inn before and I'm a light sleeper.

Turns out I had nothing to worry about. I didn't hear any aeroplane sounds for the 2 nights we were there. Other good things: very helpful and friendly staff, good size room, clean, comfortable bed (I'm picky with beds and pillows as I suffer sore back and neck easily), good heating system. It was also an easy drive into the city.

But it wasn't perfect. Things that can be improved upon: furnishings and TV need to be updated, facilities should be better looked after or made available if advertised (we saw signs for a gym and checked it out, but the equipment were stashed in a corner covered by linen and looked outdated).

Overall, not a bad place to put your head down.
