Owner description: Explore an enchanting world of secret gardens. Transport yourself through time and to far-flung corners of the world. Meander through a lush tropical jungle, visit ancient China and indulge yourself in a Renaissance Prince's 16th century garden. Five garden collections have been created to delight the senses, with some garden concepts reaching back 4,000 years. Hamilton Gardens is a conceptual garden based in the Waikato that explores the context, history and meaning of gardens through time, and from around the world. It is internationally recognised for its unique concept and is the Waikato region's most popular tourist destination. Only five minutes drive from Hamilton's CBD, the Gardens is open 7 days a week during daylight hours and entry and parking is free. “A slice of heaven”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

The gardens are sprawled out, but the feature gardens are all together. Lots of fountains to cool off with. The little restaurant was overwhelmed by all of the people when we were there. We spent time at the playground too. Needed to burn off some energy. There is a rather large pond there too, if you want to feed some ducks. Loved the vegetable garden & the sustainable backyard garden the most. Definitely worth a visit for those who want a relaxing afternoon in the grass, garden lovers or someone looking for wide open spaces.

This venue just gets better and better, the gardens are stunning, the upkeep and maintenance is faultless. This is must see when in the Waikato.

“An excellent place to pause.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012

We stop here often on our way through the North Island, principally to exercise our dogs along the river bank. However, we recently took a tour of the gardens - lovely! Take a deep breathe, stretch your legs and wander gently through garden rooms and get yourself calm again. :)

“Lunch at the cafe”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2012

The gardens are looking beautiful ,as usual, Well worth spending quite some time looking around before a meal at the newly refurbished Cafe. The staff were very helpful in providing a very nice little salad to go with our Salmon Pies. Great to look out over the pond. Very peaceful and enjoyable.
