It is located along Queens Street, just round the corner of the CityLife Auckland Hotel (Queens Street Entrance). Most dishes here cost around NZ$10-15, and the portions are very generous. For Asian tourists like me who don’t have big appetites, order to share! Heard the roasts were good but I didn’t try, though I did see the neighbouring table getting served his a generous mountain of roast duck rice! It was really impressive; the serving was double that of what they serve back home!!! I tried numerous dishes whilst here – shrimp & pork dumpling noodle soup, sweet & sour pork rice, pineapple & chicken fried rice, fried beef rice noodles, fried noodles with prawns. Special mention goes to the last two! Really yummy! The food is reminiscent of authentic food fare you’ll find in Hong Kong. They serve up some complimentary soup and tea to go along with your meals too. Even the restaurant itself reminds me of the unadorned cafes that throng the streets of Hong Kong, albeit a lot more spacious. Food is good, service is good; I’ve had the owner come by my table to ask how the food is several times! While café is simple, with boxes stacked here and there, they do make up for the lack of embellishments with delicious food and warm service.
