The atmosphere here is fabulous. We particularly enjoyed watching the group of ladies making their own pasta under the supervision of chef Andrea. My partner & I shared a starter (salmon carpaccio) which, despite the simplicity of the dish, was full of flavour. We then each had a bowl of pasta. I had the delicious homemade chicken tortellini with a bolognaise sauce - absolutely amazing flavour, and a generous serving. My other half also had a bowl of pasta from the 'specials' menu and while he couldn't fault it he appeared to have a case of food envy after tasting mine. We decided we were too full for a dessert each, but not too full to share one. We have quite different preferences when it comes to dessert, but eventually settled on the waitress's recommendation. Unfortunately, the delight all came crashing down when we took a mouthful of what tasted like burnt honey. The main part of the dish (a parfait?) was potentially quite good, but was drizzled in a most foul tasting sauce - we had expected it to be unusual, but this was seriously unpleasant. Of course, being good kiwi's, we didn't make a fuss, didn't complain and thought maybe that this dessert just wasn't pleasant to our palates, and that a more discerning diner may have actually enjoyed it - certainly the waitress seemed to be recommending it on the basis of her own experience. I wouldn't hesitate to go back there again though - overall this place is fantastic, and has potential to become a favourite.
