The customer service at this motel is absolutely exceptional. I have never experienced service at this level - not even in absurdly expensive 5 star hotels. Ever. Period. The owners absolutely went out of their way to help us in pretty much any way they could.

The rooms were very clean and spacious and the motel is conveniently situated.

The only thing we did not like were the fact that the furniture is a bit old and worn-out and subsequently quite uncomfortable - my partner and I both woke up with painful backs every morning as a result. Other than that, we loved our stay.

We stayed at Duke's as we were arriving in Auckland to begin our holiday for two nights. Philip and Marla as owner / managers of this motel were exceptional. They were only too happy to assist us with any needs we had during our stay (definitely above and beyond the call of duty). They even helped us plan our itinerary for the remainder of our trip since we really had not planned out a lot of our travel going on from Auckland. We reserved a small studio room which was very clean and well maintained. I noticed that other rooms were much larger and wished I would have ordered one of the larger rooms. However, the one we had was fine for our needs and very reasonably priced. The guitar shaped pool and jacuzzi was very nice and the property overall was very well maintained. However, what makes this property exceptional is the hospitality and genuine friendliness of the management and staff.

Four of us stayed at Dukes for two nights and absolutely loved the place. The management were terrific, nothing was a problem for them. We had to catch a flight at 11pm, and as we checked out at 11am, they allowed us to have use of the conference room right next to pool, jacuzzi,couches, kitchen, shower, etc. The rooms were great, two separate bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchen and a fantastic guitar shaped pool. The service from Philip the Manager was beyond expectations and such friendly staff. Close to shops, restaurants, bus stops , we were sad to have to leave. Absolutely 5 star plus. I recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to experience old-fashioned hospitality at its finest.

Dukes Midway Motel is rated a 3 star property, but the cleanliness and total service offered by the management there made us feel like 5 star guests. Located half-way between the Auckland Airport and Auckland, we chose to stay here for two seperate nights in an economy room whilst on a self-drive holiday. The handy location is near "Dress-Mart" shopping outlet and is within close proximity to decent shops, supermarkets and restaurants. The rooms were the cleanest we had experienced on our trip (we had stayed in more expensive 4 star accom most nights):fairly roomy motel size rooms with Sky TV, tea/coffee facilities, hairdryer, shampoo etc and are situated in a quiet single level group around a guitar shaped pool!. Management were exceptional- it was a joy to be welcomed by such friendly customer service folk who take pride in their Motel and in recommending the area and sights to tourists. Nothing was too much to ask.
