“Promising!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2013

Called in here for a mid-morning coffee as the modernisation of this refurbished building appealed. The decor was dark and there was not much on offer from the counter display - also where was the menu board? Staff seemed disinterested and offhand.
The coffee tasted bitter and my muffin way too dense and large - suggest they offer bite-sized minis for those who cannot plough through such monsters (check out the ones at Luscious on the peninsula!). The background music could also be just that - hard to hold a conversation over it.

“fantastic dinner menu”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2013

We have been here both for coffee during the day and for a meal in the evening. We were delighted we tried out their dinner menu. We had the shared platter for starters which had a lovely range of flavours all cooked exceptionally well each with it's own special sauce. We then went for the mains where we chose a sauce off the menu...what a great idea! Between us we chose a steak and a tuna steak with french fries with parmesan and stuffed muschrooms for sides. The mains were scrumptious and the sides not bad either. It was also nice to have lovely wines on the menu to enjoy. There was so much food neither of us were able to manage a dessert. All in all it was a good experience. We enjoy going there for a morning coffee although during the winter it is best to sit indoors as it doesn't catch the morning sun. From memory the only thing that lacked atmosphere was the bathroom which seemed out of keeping with the rest.

“Useless Service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2013

I was looking forward to a good night out with the girls after hearing many good things about the restaurant. However everything nothing was great! When asking about the food on the menu because of dietary requirements we were told she didn't know and would go ask the chef. This was fine and she came back to let me know. The young waitress then hovered over my shoulder until i asked her if i could have a minute. It then took her about 15 minutes to come back as she was talking to her friends who were having a party.

THE WORST- Spills on the floor should be cleaned up ASAP. I got up to walk to the bathroom and slipped on something on the floor. I fell straight onto the ground with a bang straight onto my knee. Everyone stared. When I got up I noticed the young female waitress laughing. None of the staff ended up coming over to ask if I was okay even though they all heard and saw the fall. I have now ended up on crutches due to slipping on their floor. It is just natural that if someone falls to at least ask them if they are okay. Isn't it? If an older lady fell over would it be any different?

The young female waitress never came back to the table but we had a male waiter serve us for the rest of the night. It was nice he had a big smile on his face the whole time. My friends Main came out with her entree and when the main came back it was barely warm.

The service could have been a lot better, and when someone falls you could ask them if they are okay.

“Had high expectations.....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2013

We had heard about a new cafe in Blockhouse Bay. We went on a Sunday morning for an early brunch. No issue finding a table, and had menus delivered. The odd part was having to go to the counter to place our order. With no kids menu our two 7,9, ordered french toast. Their big breakfast was ok..The coffee was just average. On arrival we had to ask for the music to be turned down, as it was too loud and we found it difficult to speak over it. Someone must have realised this and 20 or so minutes later, it was turned back up......

Overall, it is a nice looking place, but at $76 for a family of 2A and 2K too pricey.
