“Lived up to expectations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2014

Like all no bookings restaurants I left my number to call and they gave an estimated time for securing a table. In fact I got one 15 mins earlier which was great. There are by the way many bars to have a drink in while you wait. The food was well worth the wait and the staff friendly and efficient. I will return!

“Unimpressed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2014

Hate to be in minority & soo wanted to love this place as much as everyone else raving about it, but just couldn't. Food took a really, really long time to come (40+minutes), and although they put all the materials for bread dipping on the table, didn't bring any bread--so fine, we ordered some separately ourselves, but were done eating by the time it came, so were quite annoyed when the check still reflected a $5 charge for 4 small pieces of buttered bread (just felt like it should have been on the house given how long we had to wait in the first place and then the fact that we were done eating by the time the bread side came out). Water was refilled infrequently and served in pretty small glasses. Ok, fine, that all aside, coffee came out luke warm too--which I understand it's a busy Sunday brunch, but come on. Food was decent but came in tiny portions for the price--he got the Porchetta & I got the Mozzarella burrata--sorry, but we were starving by the time it finally came out (we had also waited about 35minutes to be seated, so the clock had been ticking for a while) and so were still pretty hungry at the end of it (and my stomach is normally quite easy to fill!)

Although this place is clearly frequented by a lot of locals (which made it attractive to us in the first place), at the end of the day, I'd have to call it your run-of-the-mill, frou-frou, overpriced city restaurant, simply up-playing its "chic little bistro" badge.

“Best Meal in Auckland”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2014

Found the name of this restaurant on Yelp, but didn't get directions before leaving home. We must have walked all around it but couldn't find it. So glad we didn't give up the search, because this was the best meal we had while in Auckland.

The restaurant has a café environment with indoor and outdoor sitting with an open kitchen. Everything was farm fresh or locally sourced. I ordered the deconstructed lasagna with grilled zucchinis with a slightly Greek influence. It also had creamy feta, chopped almonds and kalamata olives on top of micro greens with an herb olive oil dressing. I was in heaven.

“modern cuisine 7/7”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2014

Creative kitchen, not a wide choose but very good food, well presented. Very nice attentive and professional staff, although most are (french) young girls, they offered me to taste the 4 Sauvignon blanc to choose the best - Amisfield. I had just 1 small glass. Cosy and friendly atmosphere, young people, crowded but no reservations, may be you have to wait a little. Enjoy a beer or a glass of wine at the outside tables, in the quiet atmosphere of the square, the restaurant is worth few minutes waiting.

“Quality Local And Seasonal Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2014

Loved our dinners here. We've been twice in two weeks, first just the two of us and the next time we brought another couple friends along. We had a slight wait of ten minutes or so each time. A nice touch to the wait was a glass of sparkling water or an offer of drink from the bar. The menu is not large but it is creative and composed of seasonal and local ingredients. We had to use our iPhone dictionary to figure out a few menu words but that's always fun and educational. It's a classy place for being so simple.
