“Nice venue by the beach”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2013 via mobile

The venue is nice by the beach and the food is good, although a little bit pricey. The staff are friendly. They seem to be popular so we had to wait for a seat. The menu is similar to their other restaurants in Kohi, Takapuna and Grey Lynn. Reliable food.. I'd go back there.

“One of Auckland's finest cafes”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2013 via mobile

Beautifully presented cafe with attentive service. Often is pretty busy but if you don't mind waiting on weekends is well worth it. Some say the menu is a little wordy but the food, service and and atmosphere are excellent.

“Outstanding flavours for quality brunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2013

First visit and was impressed. Busy with a great looking crowd but service was quick, polite and the quality of each of the 4 meals was outstanding. A lot of thought has gone into each dish. Different without being too out-there. Smoked fish with scrambled eggs & capers on toast very good. No kids menu so if taking children they need to be adventurous. Expensive but a notch above regular cares so fair.

“OK but expected better”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

A group of three of us popped in for coffee and cake one Friday afternoon. Quite a number of tables were occupied but it was not too busy. The coffee arrived in reasonable time but we had to chase the cake up on three separate occasions and by the time it arrived, the coffee had been drunk. To add to further disappointment, the cake was dry - obviously it had been hanging about in the cabinet for too long.

“Shame the food a bit average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2013 via mobile

We have been here a few times and it's been a 10, but recently the food has gone off. Under seasoned and a menu that's trying a bit hard to be clever. Not sure what's gone wrong but hope they can pull it back. The Bays needs a dining experience like that which we know this group can usually deliver.
