Auckland Harbour is stunning and the ferry trip to Waiheke takes you past all the major islands including the magnificnet extinct volcanor, Rangitoto.

“Auckland Harbour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2013

Auckland is blessed with a stunning harbour and gulf. The title "city of sails" is an excellent description of a summers day on the water.
Because of Auckland's temperate climate most days people are out in boats. This possible goes some way to understanding why New Zealand in events such as the Americas Cup, Round the world races, Olympic sailing events etc. continually is so successful, even with a relatively small population.
There are many trips available leaving from the Ferry Terminal, Viaduct Harbour etc. that cater for excursions on the harbour, or out to several islands with sight seeing opportunities, vineyards, restaurants even a bird sanctuary.
For the more adventurous there is dolphin and whale watching, fishing trips and even yacht racing in ex Americas Cup boats.
Take advantage of the opportunity at comparatively very modest cost.

“The Islands of the Gulf”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2013

Take a Ferry from Downtown Auckland and pay a visit to one of the many Islands of the Gulf. Waiheke with its great wineries, beautiful beaches and just a half hour ferry ride Great Barrier Island, a much longer ferry ride but what a wonderful place to visit, it seems like another world, Rangitoto that disinct volcano, walk to the top and geta great Panoramic View. Make the effort to see one of these islands while visiting Auckland

“Boats Galore”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

You just have to take a trip around the Hauraki Gulf. The views are to die for! It's a relaxing way to visit the little Bays, watch the boats, see the lovely houses perched on the hills and just take in the scenery. Take a lunch or dinner cruise - well worth the money.
