“Nice escape from the CBD”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013

As i am from Australia and had a bit of a stop over in Auckland before my flight home. Decided to head into town via the Express Bus service from the Airport. The last stop is the Viaduct precinct.

If you live in Melbourne, then it is very similar to the Docklands Precinct we have. A lot of great restaurants by the water, decent shopping and always some entertainers on the streets for your enjoyment.

If you have a short time in Auckland and do not want to see the typical CBD scene you see everywhere then head to the Viaduct Harbour for something a bit different.

What a wonderful place to wonder around and take in all the views and people. Plenty of places to just sit and relax. Great for families.

Fabulous fish market selling great food with a multitude of eating places and wine bars. Fresh food prepared to order and loads to buy and take away if you are staying in a self catered place. Wines were great tho not cheap cheap!

“Great area in Central Auckland .. plenty to see and do!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2013

We really loved this part of Auckland, basically the whole area around the Viaduct Basin, across the Wynyard Crossing over to the Jellicoe Street Park area. The area is full of restaurants, a few shops, and lots and lots of activity. It just felt very vibrant and interesting. This isn't necessarily a guidebook site (at least it wasn't in our book), but it's definitely worth visiting. We were really impressed with the mix of urban, industrial, and green spaces, and they way that the working port was incorporated into a developed, urban area.
