“Couldn't fault a thing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2014

I look forward to returning to Mercure Auckland. From the moment I arrived, until the moment I checked out, the service was amazing and I was very happy with my room. Please keep doing what you're doing, it was so refreshing to always have friendly staff around. Rooms are a good size, clean and comfortable. Location is great, central to bus stops, eateries etc. There was the usual noise that you get anywhere in the CBD, but not enough to disturb my sleep (I was on 12th floor so it could be a bit louder on a lower level?). Thumbs up from me :)

FIrst, I must say the staff are fantastic! They put every effort into getting our room ready by 10:30 AM (rather than the 2 PM check in time) as we arrived at the hotel at 6 Am, dead tired from a 14 hour flight. And the cleaning staff are very friendly. It was clean and the AC fan was quiet. Location is great but that's about it.

Our room was small and had peeling and scraped paint everywhere. The bathroom was updated somewhat. One elevator button was broken but the others worked. No elevator to the first floor if you need a bathroom from the lobby. No hotel parking lot...costs $40 to park overnight in a parkade, and the hotel brings your car back for you. Lovely, very expensive restaurant on the top floor so we ate breakfast at MacDonalds around the corner.
Our room was across from the elevators, very handy, but there was a roar from the elevator weights from 7 AM til past midnight.

The biggest rip off is that there is free wifi outside the hotel , provided by the city, and that's where the hotel gets guests' internet from! That's why it's only available free in the lobby!

The TV is set up to sell you a movie and it is too easy to do so by mistake. Another guest was angry that he was being charged twice for the same movie because he pushed the wrong button by mistake.

We stayed here because of a great stay in the Mercure in Cairns, Australia, and there is no similarity at all! This hotel is trading on its location. I would say, not a good value.

Room Tip: The view on the 11th floor was great and it was quiet except for the elevator roar. So ask for a roo...

Minimal wi-fi, lobby only!Hotel Mercure Auckland,

Had a pleasant stay with very competent staff, both willing to please, and able meet our requests. Both the housekeeping staff and people on the desk performed admirably. The rooms were adequate - but dated - as were the corridors.

Yet, for a hotel attempting to cater to international travelers whether independent, corporate or in groups like America's Road Scholar, the stinginess of doling out Wi-Fi only in the lobby or restaurant, and only free for thirty minutes a day, undercuts all the efforts of their highly professional staff.

Come on, Hotel Mercure, match your staff and get that Wi-Fi in your rooms, unlimited, and begin to meet your marketing objectives!

Very easy to access via bus or taxi from the airport. Lots of young people who congregate in the lounge area but who are quiet and respectful. Clean room and helpful staff. Limited amount of wi fi access daily but mc Donald's is underneath. Close to waterfront area where there are good restaurants .would use this hotel again.

We booked this as a "Hot Deal Deluxe Room" through travel bug. The rooms was disappointing. Small, not well maintained (paint flaking off the walls, cracked tiles, the labels on the TV remote were unreadable etc). The most annoying thing was that there was no cool water!! The lady at the exception explained that this was because the pipes were on the outside of the building. This was really annoying as this was a very hot day, and we could not even drink a glass of water from the tap. Overall, everybody was really disappointed as we expected, well, a deluxe room !!
Also, wifi was only available in the lobby.
