“Good service , central location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2013

Stayed here a couple of weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised. Rooms were of a good size, with good upmarket decor. Room service was prompt and efficient, as was housekeeping when we ordered a couple of extra pillows. All round a good experience and would defiantly be back, when we head back up this way again. Thanks

From being greeted by the bellman in the top hat to the huge breakfast buffet this place was just luxurious. We had been traveling for a week and were pretty tired. This place was the luxury we needed at this point in our trip. Large wonderful rooms and bed to die for. All the special touches that make it a first class hotel. Very relaxing and wonderful service. Best place to stay in Auckland.

What a fantastic friendly hotel. This was our first time staying at The Langham , what a great hotel with fantastic room and super friendly staff, from the check in to the maids. Everyone had a smile on their face and very very helpful.
Great location for getting around the CBD.

We have stayed in a few Langham Hotels and the thing that really sets this one apart is the amazing staff, who are absolutely exceptional. From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave, they are helpful, professional and friendly. By far the best service we have encountered anywhere. The rooms are clean and comfortable, although not as stylish as some of the other Langham hotels we have stayed in. The bathroom in particular, although very clean was really in need of a refurbish and looking tired, The breakfast was well above average for a hotel buffet style and the staff in the restaurant were particularly lovely. Special mention to Danny who made breakfast every morning a pleasure. Would reccomend for a stay in Auckland.

All the staff I encountered were very pleasant and efficient. Rooms are very traditional but comfortable, particularly the enormous bed. I was here for a meeting so experienced the conference lunches for five days and thought the food was pretty good for buffet style eating. Wifi was complimentary on our conference arrangements and although I had some Internet access issues in the room I was moved immediately to another room. I really couldn't fault the service. Drinks at the bar were a bit pricey but no more than any hotel of this class. There's a bus down to the harbour which is pretty useful especially own the return journey as walking up that hill is hard work.

It was hardly surprising to find out The Langham Hotel in Auckland has just been named the News Zealand hotel of the year in the annual HM magazine award.

We pulled up at The Langham and as a concierge opened the taxi door she offered greetings to my partner, welcoming by her name. How did they know my partner’s name?

We were staggered by the unparalleled service throughout our entire stay by the genuinely enthusiastic staff, who collectively are any hotel’s No.1 asset. At the Langham, staff could not be faulted on our visit.

We spent two nights in the Governor’s Suite which rates highly among New Zealand’s finest at $1800 a night. The quality and service is worth it all. We slept on the same amazing bed as pop stars and Heads of State who previously preferred to stay there. Hotels never reveal their stars for obvious reasons.

Our giant bed had four comfort layers of padding to give us two of our deepest, happiest sleeps ever. The air conditioning was perfect, which is not something many hotels get right.

We soaked up the service in the Club Lounge, where breakfast and drinks and nibbles are served, well before the sun slips over the yardarm.

Our Club Lounge supervisor Giovanna Londono of Colombia could not do enough for us from bananas in our room in the morning – and they were essential to start the day – to chocolates, cheese, sauces and crackers to one of the finest New Zealand chardonnays, Maude of Wanaka.

Giovanna was genuinely warm, engaging and happy for us to relax, even if my partner easily beat me at speed-chess. The All Blacks were about to play a Rugby Championship game so Giovanna moved all we wanted to our Governor’s Suite to enjoy the test on the big flat screen – from our sumptuous and lavishly-fitted lounge, or from the bedroom.

The sound of the match floated away into the distance. This was a weekend romance took precedence over rugby.

We slept like babies and after pancakes covered in raspberry sauce, croissants and coffeefor breakfast, we headed to the Parnell French village markets. The smells of coffee, freshly cooked food and sounds of soft live music, a buzzing Sunday atmosphere almost made us drift away to the south of France, for a little bit.

Parnell is a lovely part of Auckland and just a stroll across the Domain from The Langham. When we got back to our suite we changed into swimwear and headed to the pool and spa. My partner soaked up the spa as I clocked up some laps.

We were in heaven. Total luxury, brilliantly cared for in style and to top it off we sipped more buttery chardonnay late in the afternoon and sampled almost too much of the finely-crafted nibbly food. The magnetic attraction to Eight restaurant downstairs was a serious lure but we were so relaxed we barely moved after our spa and pool dip.

Heading out the next morning Belorus receptionist Darya Filatava wrapped some Prada perfume for my partner as we sadly headed away from the jewel in the hotel crown of New Zealand’s largest city.

Every now and then there is a hotel that surpasses your expectations. The Langham in Auckland was one of those rare hotels. We stayed for two nights in an executive room. The room was comfortable and clean, with thoughtful ammentities (including things like a razor and shaving cream and talcum powder). In the evening there was a turn down service with bottles of water and a little chocolate. We had two fantastic nights sleep in the very comfortable beds and I enjoyed a soak in the deep tub. Staff were consistently polite and friendly. We had breakfast in the dining room which consisted of a comprehensive buffet of everything you could imagine, plus some things you couldn't - such as the chocolate fountain and ice cream bar (for breakfast!).

We also had the pleasure of doing an afternoon tea service. This was a highlight for me. Tea is one of my passions and I was thrilled with service at the Langham. The details were all there, including warming the pot and pouring the first cup, to make this is truly elegant experience. The savouries, scones and sweets were all delicious and tea selection itself was delightful. If you have the opportunity, I highly recommend the afternoon tea.

If we ever find ourselves in Auckland again, I won't even consider staying anywhere else.

Room Tip: The executive room was only a few extra dollars a night and well worth it.

Thank you for your warm words, and we are pleased we were able to make your stay with us so memorable. Our popular Tiffin Afternoon Tea is always a firm favourite with our guests. We are fortunate to have our very own Tea Sommelier at hand to help guests choose the perfect tea to go with their tea time treats. We shall look forward to seeing you should you ever visit Auckland again.
