My wife and I had dinner here the first night we got in from L.A. Spectaular views and amazing food. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was relaxing. A must for those looking for a romantic dinner that won't cost you an arm and a leg.

Went for the Sky Jump off Sky Tower in Auckland. What a fun experience! It was quite an experience to jump off a 60 storey building and man was the view awesome. On a clear day you can see very very far and is a great 360 degree view of Auckland.
Sky Jump was a bit expensive for such a short jump but at least I have been there and done that.
Not many places in the world where you can jump off a 60 storey building. Quite an experience. Just don't look down, it's quite scary! =)
Don't recall exact numbers, so going to round. However, you should get an idea of your options.
Went to get info on Sky Tower to check out costs, etc.
Believe it was going to be around $50 for two to go to the top and have a look. There was a slighly higher charge if you wanted to
go to another lever higher. Something like that.
Here is the point of this Review.
We learned that you can go to the restaurant at the top of the tower with a minimum purchase of $60.
So, your choice is: Pay $50 for two for a look. Or, pay a minimum of $60 for two (dinner/drinks/etc) and have a seat for up to 2 hrs, watching all of Auckland go by, almost twice.
We made reservations for the next day. Were given a table right on the window. It was terrific. A couple of appetizers and drinks and you have not only gotten a comfortable seat with a view, but some wine and food. For maybe $10-$20 more.
Which makes sense to you?
It's something to see while you're in Auckland. It's supposedly the tallest building in the southern hemisphere. Inside, at the bottom, there is the souvenir shop, on the 1st floor where you enter this thing, is a little coffee shop & some escalators that will take you up to the casino & a few places to eat & drink. But if you go down, to the gift shop, there is an elevator that will take you up to some restaurants & the viewing deck. The views are very nice.
Another touristy thing to do is to jump off the tower. Some friends of ours did it and LOVED it ! They went at 11:00am, paid for 1 jump, but because it was not busy - they let them go off again for free. But to me; it just looked a little silly. You'll be attached to 3 wires, then you jump off and hang there for a second, then you're dropped a little and slowed down for a photo, then dropped the rest of the way. It's very safe.
What the heck ? It's something different to do. But it cost $200 per person. Yeow !
My fiancee and I visited the Skytower yesterday. We intended to go up to the observation deck and just view the city (which would have cost NZ$20 each) but we discovered that if we booked a meal in one of the top restaurants the $20 fee does not have to be paid (provided you spend at least $25 in the restaurant). We decided to do this and booked for the evening.
Everything about the meal and evening was super. The food and service in the Orbit Restaurant was absolutely excellent. As the restaurant is slowly revolving around the top of the tower you can imagine what the views were like!
We had a wonderful meal, wine, starters, main course, licquors, desserts and coffee and the bill came to NZ$200.50 (before tip). When you factor in the cost of merely going to the observation deck which would have been $20 each on its own then I think it's a 'no brainer'.
But if you're really afraid of heights you might like to think twice. It is VERY high up! I felt a little bit uneasy at first but that soon wore off and I just enjoyed the spectacular views.
