“Great location and super friendly staff”

Spent Saturday night here with my husband. Really friendly staff, great location and comfy bed. Would definitely stay again. Even had nice live music in lobby at check in. Used Valet parking and also very friendly. Didn't eat at restaurants but they looked busy

We enjoyed our stay here. The lobby , location and fitness center are world class. The bathroom is very luxurious and the room itself was nice. We had a view of the water in the distance and the room itself was a nice size. The bulletin information board in the room was awkward and not 5 star. The front desk reception and the bellhops and car valets were top notch. The gym has the best view in the whole facility. They give you a 10 dollar mini bar credit if you pass on using housekeeping.

By far the best thing about my experience at the hotel was the concierge service. There were two concierge who I interacted with, Arie and Nu, who were phenomenal. They answered any questions I had about booking wine tours in the city and offered insightful advice about going to Waiheke Island and they were always friendly as I entered or left the hotel. Thank you for your hospitality.

Upon check-in, the staff were not very welcoming at all, it was a pretty bland check-in considering the 5 star rating of the property. None of the hotel facilities or room inclusions were explained, it was a non peak period so I'm not sure what the rush to get me away was. Any time I asked the front desk a question there was always a wait.. perhaps they are understaffed and it is reflecting in their service and attitude. I had a room rate which included the buffet breakfast. Staff and service at the breakfast area was also very good, and I was always greeted cheerfully in the mornings. The food selection was varied in hot and cold foods, eggs made to order etc., but I don't think it's worth the $35 if it's not included in your room.

I had a superior room which provided everything I needed. Bathroom had a shower and a tub and large mirror area. The bathroom lights were on a sensor which I had issues with so a call was made to maintenance and someone was sent to fix it. Only issue with my room was I was on a lower floor and could hear street noise through the night and see the elevators to the private residences going up and down all the time.

The hotel is in a great location in the middle of the city. It's very close to the Viaduct restaurant district (5 mins walking slowly) and the ferry terminal is at the end of the road. The main shopping area of Queen Street is just one street over and it's around the corner from the Sky Tower.

The pool area and gym looked great, but I never got to use them.

this is a very good hotel, we stayed here 4 nights and it was very handy to everything we wanted.
the food is ok, the menu is a bit too asian and i find it over priced for the quality offered.

i reccomend to get the breakfast included as its worth your while.

overall its good.

We checked in the hotel and reception couldn't find our reservation straight away guy was new. Got checked in and used pool and spa was great until we went to use shower and and handle fell apart. Requested room move and got shifted into damp smelling and stained floor and had to be shifted again. Got a room upgrade with the only difference being the toiletries.

Your experience with check in definitely is not the norm for us and we have discussed training procedures to ensure that all staff even on their first shift feel confident in front of our guests.

Your room move was unfortunate and it is not our practice to put guests into rooms that may have been in need of maintenance or recently had carpets treated.

My husband and I met and worked at this hotel in 1985 when it was The Regent. It was then the only 5* hotel in Auckland and we were proud to work there. Unfortunately the staff now don't appear to care about the customers or giving a 5* experience.
At check in we were not advised of what our package involved or invited to use any hotel facilities offered.
When we got to our room there was a folder which had magazines in but no compendium of the hotel facilities. I had to ring up twice before a stained copy was brought to our room. Even then there was nothing about the restaurants menus or operating hours.
The room had no art work but there was a bulletin board.
I feel this was more suited to a backpackers than a 5* hotel.
We had drinks and snacks in the Knights bar and noticed other people not being acknowledged for a while. One couple got up and walked out. The waitress was too busy looking at the bar and not the tables. The bar snacks (popcorn prawns and calamari) were cheap but were soggy and unappetising. If the hotel could have halved the portions and cooked these well it would have been still good value.
Overall if this hotel delivered 5* service and newspapers they would keep customers happy. It takes more than beautiful flower arrangements to keep up a standard.
Unfortunately management don't seem too keen on hearing about problems either as there was a Stamford survey in the room but only included free postage when posted in Australia.
What a shame that this hotel has guests but doesn't seem to want them to come back.

The Stamford is a great hotel, centrally located with generous rooms and massive bathrooms. Facilities are good including the gym and service is friendly and professional. This is my preferred hotel whenever I travel to Auckland.
