“Great Hotel, Great Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

We had a family suite for 5 nights in July of 2014. It was a great room, big and comfortable. The first night we were on the north end of the building on the second floor. It was a little noisy for us so the management immediately moved us to the south end of the building on the 6th floor. We had a package that came with free breakfasts and parking - what an awesome deal this was! The location is right in the heart of the CBD near the sky tower and the waterfront. We had a very comfortable stay.

Room Tip: Ask for an upper floor to get away from the street noise.

Rooms were clean an functional and ours had a great view of the Auckland Harbour, the staff were polite and efficient, the hotel was very centrally located and we enjoyed our two night stay. It was very easy to explore Auckland on foot from this hotel.

Dear Jan P,

Thank you for reviewing Heritage Auckland after your stay in July.

Our location does make it easy to explore central Auckland by foot. Being close to the Viaduct Harbour, other key attractions and also being just a short walk to Queen Street, makes Heritage Auckland a great base for any visit to Auckland.

Thank you for your comments about the cleanliness of your room and that you found our team to be polite and efficient – I know that our team enjoy reading such feedback from our guests.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience on TripAdvisor.

Kindest Regards

Enjoyed staying here. Stunning breakfast. Walking distance to Viaduct, so great location. Can't fault the service. Room very small, but with a good bathroom. Quite tired looking in areas, but overall great value.

Dear Urlich_NZ,

It is really nice reading that you enjoyed staying at Heritage Auckland in July and that you found the hotel to be great value.

We do have a number of different sized rooms, this mainly due to be a conversion hotel, with a historical twist. I’m sorry to read that you found areas of the hotel to be tired, we do have a refurbishment programme in place with a focus on keeping the hotel looking good at all times.

Our breakfast receives a lot of really great feedback, we offer a range of dishes to meet a variety of tastes and dietary requirements and our RAW breakfast buffet is unique to Hectors Restaurant.

Thank you for sharing your feedback and experience on TripAdvisor.

Kindest Regards

This is an impersonal big hotel for business travelers and tour buses like ours, but I'd return to it as an individual. It is very plain on the outside, but it has enormous rooms with very high ceilings and wide corridors, a legacy from its previous life as a dept. store. I could walk everywhere--harbor, museums, shopping and Town Hall. The breakfast buffet was the best of our two-week tour and one of the best I've ever had. Pool on the roof has panoramic view.

Dear mrsagj,

Thank you for submitting your review after your stay at Heritage Auckland in October 2013.

It was very nice to read that you would return as an individual traveller, rather than as member of a tour group, as it appears you were.

I’m glad that you enjoyed the large rooms we offer; as you’ve commented the hotel wing was formally a very well known New Zealand department store, which was converted to a hotel a number of years ago. The conversion was carried out with a focus on remaining true to the style of building and kept a number of features that it was known for.

We are located just a short walk from a number of key attractions and close to the central business district.

Thank you for rating Heritage Auckland and providing feedback on TripAdvisor.

Kindest Regards

There was a fire in this hotel last night and I can only describe the efficiency of management in this saga as reminiscent of peter sellars in the movie the party. No communication, no roll call of guests. No explanation, very little indeed. So, freezing outside for 2 hours before finally someone came and told the guests that we could stay inside a lobby not affected by the fire and given hit chocolate. The manager and staff of this hotel went missing in action.

The hotel, itself is tired and in need of a massive makeover. The beds were soft and were two single beds joined together but they did not match up, leaving a huge join in the middle.

The hotel is so big that you don't need to use the gym to get exercise, the walk to find your room will suffice, the walk from the lift to my room was unbelievable.

Room service and food was reasonable and the decor of the hotel was ok. Bathroom tired and in need of upgrade.

The walls were so thin I could hear every conversation in the room next door!

Due to the debacle of inefficiency of the the fire drill I would not stay here again.

stayed last weekend with a friend for 2 nights on a special package, which included a full breakfast with everything anyone could possibly want including raw health food bar for those who very, very health conscious. The room and service was awesome with Valet parking and late checkout, very close to Viaduct Basin, and Queen street shopping, Great value for money and room was spotless and large with 2 seperate queen beds and dividing doors for privacy!! Well done Heritage Auckland, you've done it again!!

Room Tip: Deluxe room can fit 4 people as it has 2 queen beds witht dividing doors

Dear TracyR,

Thank you for your feedback after your stay earlier this month. It is really nice reading when our guests have such a positive experience.

The double deluxe suites are a really good option for sharing with the dividing door as you’ve noted. We receive a lot of great comments about our healthy eating options, in particular breakfast with the unique RAW breakfast bar.

As you’ve commented out location is really handing to a number of key areas within central Auckland, like the Viaduct area and the CBD.

We look forward to welcoming you back the next time you’re visiting Auckland. Thank you for taking the time to submit feedback on TripAdvisor.

Kindest Regards
