“Good centrally located hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2013

I would have given this hotel a four but two things counted against it - it is a bit dated and if you have a room facing the harbour and you stay at the weekend there is a LOT of noise from the street (no matter how high up you are). The hotel is a fantastic location though, in a safe area. But it is near the waterfront bars so i was hearing happy drunks and music til about 2 or 3 in the morning. Not sure this would be a problem during the week. Great views of the harbour and good room service, hotel bar etc. Would be fine to stay again but if you're a family with young kids might not be so good on a weekend.

We stayed in a superior room on the 10th floor for 1 night.
We had a special deal that was great value for money, but got a bit nervous after reading some reviews on here. Turns out we didn't need to worry at all.
Check in was friendly & quick, awesome location of course. We found our room clean & comfy & yes a little dated but we didn't find that offensive for what we paid. Glad we had a flat screen with sky tv. Yes it's an older hotel but we really enjoyed our night here.

I stayed in this hotel while in Auckland on business, the only thing I could fault was the lack of a power point in the bathroom for a hair drier but I made do with the one in the back of the wardrobe. Apart from that the room was very clean, no problem with checking in or out, great breakfast, where else can you get such fantastic views for the price, only wish I could have have stayed longer. I would stay there again.

The hotel is very dated and run down, beds & pillows are well beyond replacement date, no power point in bathrooms, hard to find any at all in the room, ended up finding on inside the wardrobe!!! Will not stay here again. Even with double glazing it was still noisy, we were on the 7th floor and could still hear the argument across the road at 3 am

Bathrooms are plastic & fittings are broken.
Stained carpet in room & hallways & room smells musty.
Room is so hot! Had an air-con dial in room & i set it to 10 degrees Celsius but it just made room warmer. Rung reception, he explained the dial doesnt do anything & he was embarrassed by it. Hotel is run on a boiler system which the hotel sets to cold air for summer & hot for winter... Stupid.
Reception man called Hamish provided me with some free snacks & a fan for the inconvenience of hot room. Fan helped. Finally got to sleep at 1am.
I payed $129 for 1 night, free parking, breakfast & 2 drinks. Quite a good deal via Wotif.com.
Convienent location but everything else about this hotel is rubbish.
They claim its 4 star! Hah.
1st world problems i know but this hotel needs a serious update.
Staff were lovely & could not be faulted.
Noise levels from street is pretty bad & im on the 10th floor.

This room was booked by my boyfriend for my 21st birthday last minute as a surprise. It clearly said on our reservation that we had booked a queen or king bed. However when we checked in we were given a twin with two tiny bed. When we rung down to reception we were told that there were no more queen or king rooms left and we had to stay where we were. Even though we had clearly booked for one. Im sure the moody unhelpful receptionist would want to sleep in a serperate bed from her boyfriend on her birthday too. When I even told her it was my birthday she just said there was nothing left..Maybe this hotel should stop selling certain rooms when they are not aviable any more so people are not disapointed on their birthdays

Stayed at this hotel one weekend with my partner.

The location of this hotel is perfect, right by the harbour, great views, and so close to fine restaurants and shops etc. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful.

But... The room was very outdated, especially the bathroom. Old broken tiles, old bath-tub etc. The walls were also pretty thin, we could hear the neighbouring rooms flushing toilets - not a pleasant sound in the middle of the night. The bed was very comfy, but the pillows weren't. I think the place just needs a good make-over to live up to its 4* standard.

Overall we enjoyed our stay, but not sure whether we'll return.
