“Good value for money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2010

I stayed at the Rendesvouz for ten nights in mid-October. I liked the hotel very much. My booking from back in Denmark provided me with a great room for approx 100 NZD per night. In the perspective I think it is top notch value also despite the interior seems to need an upgrade etc. But again its all about money, expectations and result. I enjoyed the hotel: location is good, the room was large, good bed and big bathroom, good shower and all greatly looked after by cleaning staff on daily basis. Internet connection was included in the price. The reception staff very helpful on the few occasions I needed assistance. I never dined nor had breakfast at the Rendesvouz. However I used the good pool area with a wonderful sundeck wherefrom one can enjoy the skyline view of Auckland. The sauna is also very good. The Rendesvouz was a fantastic base for my trip to Auckland and for that its worth all the five stars. Thank you.

I have traveled in many countries, first and third world, and have never been treated as badly as at this hotel.

I was on a trip with my husband and 2 friends. One of the friends made the reservation at the hotel for our first night in New Zealand and paid a deposit which was charged to her credit card prior to our leaving on the trip.

Upon arrival we were told that they did not have room for us at the hotel so booked us rooms at another hotel that happened to be outside of Auckland. One of the reasons we picked this hotel was so that we would be within walking distance of the sights. They also said the room deposit had been credited at the other hotel.

The other hotel was lovely, if out of the way, but they didn't know anything about the deposit. Calls to the Rendezvous to straighten this out were fruitless. We wanted to leave some luggage at the Rendezvous as we were going to have 2 nights in Auckland at the end of our trip and didn't want to haul around extra luggage from an earlier leg of our journey so we took a chance and went back to the hotel the next morning and did leave our luggage with them. They had agreed to a reduced rate for the rooms. However, all of the driving to and from hotels and trying to work with the front desk cost us a day of our vacation.

The 2 nights we spent there at the end of the trip were fine except they still weren't able to explain why we had been moved even though we had a confirmed reservation and they wouldn't refund the deposit as they said they had gotten a reduced rate for us at the hotel they had moved us to which wasn't true because I checked with the other hotel about their rates in case we wanted to stay there on our return. All in all a bad experience.

I had heard that all New Zealanders are friendly but my advise is to get out of the city as soon as possible if you want to experience that.

I've had to do a lot of traveling this year and it was capped by a visit to Auckland for a convention. Despite headaches with the airline losing our luggage for a day, the staff at the Rendezvous front desk was the most pleasurably professional and responsible group I have ever encountered as a traveler. Special shout out to the evening concierge, Villy, who used all his ability to talk with real people at the airport and zero in on our missing bags. His calm and responsible demeanor kept me sane after a day of recorded voices.

Also Jack, the night manager - well informed, a problem solver for the travel weary.

Room was clean, well maintained, and the huge soaking tub a real treat.

Thanks!

Good hotel, very central. Has a pool and gym but we were only there for the weekend so never got time to use them. Very nice room, good size with a firm comfy bed, big desk, plenty of storage space and very clean. But lighting not very bright (a common hotel fault). Also wifi expensive! Which would discourage us from staying here again. This a huge hotel so there was a long queue for breakfast and we decided to eat elsewhere. If those problems don't bother you, you'll love it here.

Visually a very pretty hotel. The prices for dinning at the hotel were out of this world. The internet was not bad. You get three hours of free internet per 24hrs. Nice sleeping. Beds could be more comfortable. The bathroom had a huge soaking tub which was nice. Great workout facility and pool. Close to downtown and within walking distance to the harbor.

I stayed here with a colleague on a quick trip to Auckland. The rooms are clean and roomy enough with a large bathroom including shower and separate bath. This hotel has great facilities for travelers e.g late check in, business centre, packages to support the business traveler. The Japanese restaurant is lovely and the buffet breakfast has a great range of foods. The Atrium lounge / bar make fantastic coffee and the general service by all staff is wonderful.

The biggest hotel in NZ might not be the latest place to see and be seen but still a good choice for me. Its a little dated but who cares? The TV is so bad its almost laughable but the location is good the bathroom is nice the bed comfy and the staff friendly. I have stayed 3 times and the view has so far been average unless you like parking garages or a police station but the indoor pool is nice and there is a well equiped gym.
