“Scenic Auckland”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2013

We nearly always stay at the Scenic Auckland as the rooms come with a fridge and kitchen, are reasonably priced, clean and more than adequate, central CBD location, valet parking and you can generally check in anytime. Recommended.

Room Tip: Fork out for the corner rooms

This hotel was a great base for our trip to Auckland. It doesn't look much from the street but the suites are a good size. The facitilies are great and the reception staff are very helpful.

We will definately recommend this to our friends

This is a good hotel with a brilliant location on Queen street with valet parking. The staff are very friendly and the restaurant/bar served good food . Many of the cities main attractions are within walking distance.

The hotel is on the main drag to the harbor, Queen Street, and it's an easy 10 minute walk to the harbor attractions. The hotel lobby is basic with an attractive bar/lounge just off it with a view of busy Queen Street. Just down the road (down as in down hill) and across the street is a massive movie and theater venue. As you walk down Queen Street towards the harbor you'll pass every kind of restaurant and store you can think of.

We asked for a quiet room due to jet lag (flight from LAX) and got it. The living room portion of the room was large with a flat screen TV. Only eight channels and no CNN. WiFi was available for $5 NZD for an hour, or higher prices for longer. There is free WiFi for an hour available in the above mentioned movie mall. Hotel staff was super helpful.

I would come back and thought the price reasonable.

First night of a 16 night tour of New Zealand with my wife and mother. Arrived at the hotel and the concierge was very efficient in getting our cases and valet parking the car. (Car park is an additional fee.)
Front desk staff very friendly and helpful, again all very efficient. We were taken to our rooms with our luggage.
The rooms were ok. Comfortable and clean and if you wanted to do self catering every thing was in the room for this. The main problem for me was that the beds were far too soft. This seemed to be the case in all the hotels we stayed in. I prefer a much firmer mattress.
The hotel is well located and an easy walk into town. There is an additional charge for wireless but again this seems to be a feature of every hotel we stayed in. Breakfast was average. Big portions and plenty of choice but the cooked breakfast was very oily and some bits burned.
Getting taxis was not a problem - the concierge usually had one for us within a few minutes.
The only real problem was my mother's room on the first night. She was at the front of the hotel and did not sleep well due to the traffic noise. On our last night we ensured she had a room at the back of the hotel and all was fine. Overall great staff, moderate and comfortable hotel and well situated.
