“Food, wine, and great company!! Perfect.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2013

Elle is a really sweet soul. She picked us up very promptly and took us on a grand tour of Auckland and it's suburbs. We were treated to a gorgeous view of the city from the top of Mount Eden. From there, she took us through funky shopping areas where we stopped at a cookbook store and met the owners who grow many of their herbs and veggies and then taught cooking classes. They were just lovely people. Elle took us to an Indian spice market and a specialty food store that specializes in locally produced and European imported foods. We were able to taste many of the cheeses and olive oils and jams. So fun! Then after wine tasting and a tour of the fish market, we were treated to a seafood platter. We were able to purchase many specialty food items like New Zealand honey and wine. Elle then gave us recommendations for restaurants based upon our likes. She really plans a nice half day for you. Elle is a really genuine, sweet person who is very knowledgeable and personable. I think anyone with a love for good food, good wine, and good company would love Elle and her tour. Just book it. You'll have a great time with her.

“Food Tour in Auckland”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2013

With family in Australia visiting from London we decided that we should add New Zealand to our list of places to see, so after a few hectic days in the Bay of Islands we thought a look at the culinary delights that Auckland has to offer would be a great way to spend the day. After reading The Big Foody reviews, we contacted Elle and straight away she had ideas and suggestions for us to choose from. Elle wanted to pick us up but as we had a rental car we arranged to meet her in Downtown Auckland, with the car parked, we were into The Big Foody 4WD and off, we saw Fish, we had wine, we stopped and did some shopping, she included a trip to the summit of Mt Eden ( what a great view of the whole city ), we had lunch, and this was only part of the day, I don't want to spoil it for anyone and tell you everything that we did, but let me just say that Elle listened to what we wanted then organised it, she was fantastic, for anyone that is spending some time in Auckland make sure you call her, nothing was too much trouble and whilst it is an early start to the day, it is well worth it. The next day we even went to visit one of the wineries ourselves out in west Auckland that was included in the wine tasting. Thanks for the great day Elle we will certainly be recommending the Big Foody to family and friends.

“An absolute must do tour!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2013

Elie is a fantastic host and guide. Her knowledge of the the local food and wine scene is superior. We had a memorable and enjoyable experience and learned a great deal about the fish market, wine and restaurants in Auckland and area. You should take this ASAP when you arrive so that you can get great information about where and what to eat. You will not be disappointed.

“Awesome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2013

What an awesome day we had with Elle on our food & wine tour today. This was the most informative tour we have had in our 6 weeks of traveling thru Aistralia & New Zealand & we have had many great tours. A must for everyone, but try & do it at the beginning of your NZ trip, if you can, we couldn't but definitely worth it!!! Thank You Elle!

“What an unexpected surprise!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2013

My boyfriend and I only had a week to spend in New Zealand and did not want to waste a second of it so we booked a Foody Food Tour with Elle for just a few hours after we arrived in Auckland. We could not think of a better first activity and introduction to NZ! First of all, Elle scheduled a tour based completely around when it was convenient for us. We could not do her normal 9am start time, so after a few emails back and forth, she had no problem scheduling us for 1:30pm. She picked us up directly from our hotel and we had her all to ourselves! We are from Los Angeles and are not used to having a private anything so what an amazing surprise to learn that we would have a private tour! We tasted ice cream, seafood at the local fish market, vietnamese spring rolls, the best cup of coffee I've ever had, did a 6 glass wine tasting.... There is no way we would have found these places on our own. She even stayed in touch with us for the remainder of our trip to make sure we were having a good time. My boyfriend and I are not "foodies" or food experts by any stretch of the imagination so I have nothing to compare it to. All I know it that Elle gave us a fabulous experience. Thanks so much!!!
