“Quick Service”

The restaurant was so busy but the staff were friendly and helpful taking time to chat. The meal was amazing and very quick to come out. Atmosphere was very pleasant.

“Fantastic service, food and setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2013

I didn't have time to read a review on tripadvisor for this restaurant but only took the recommendation of the hotel as we arrived in early evening in to Auckland. It was an easy stroll for us from the hotel as we had to take our mother in a wheel chair as she had a sore foot however it turned out to be a nice walk along the viaduct assisted with great weather. The Foodstore is located centrally on the viaduct and we were lucky enough to secure a table outside on the 'patio' of the restaurant near the footpath which was very pleasant and also near the water as it was a warm evening. Although possibly the only complaint for some maybe that the tables are very close to everyone the atmosphere is great and reminded me somewhat of Europe. The restaurant also has a very casual comfortable feel about it and the staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was fantastic. Yes it is perhaps a little more expensive but the quality and presentation of the food was excellent and well worth the money. As a group of 3 we decided to share both entrees and main courses so we could try a few different dishes. Again the quality of red wine to compliment the meal was excellent and was recommended by our waitress. In fact it was so good I shopped everywhere for it whilst on holidays in NZ and eventually bought some in Wellington.
The best thing about the restaurant was that all the food was local New Zealand produce and of very good quality so it made the dining experience on our first night in New Zealand even more special. Highly recommend the Foodstore for a special dining experience if you go to Auckland in NZ.

“Good.. but was hoping for excellent!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2013

I have seen the ads on TV and was really looking forward to the Foodstore dining experience. To begin the starter was awesome, really delicious and the service seemed quite friendly. But then there was a mix up with my mains order, quickly corrected but unfortunately thanks to the open kitchen I had to witness the drama and the anger that the confusion caused. Thats was followed by apparent disdain from the waiter who mixed up my order. When the food finally arrived, it was good but not as exciting as I would have hoped. The original description on the menu sounded really promising but sadly the end result was not as delicious... Anyhow all in all it is worth the visit but not somewhere u would visit frequently for a lovely dinner. The other thing is the company that I was with felt the choices were quite limited..

“Cold, overpriced food”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2013

This is the most overpriced restaurant we've been to in Auckland. The "chargrilled" tuna steaks were served cold, the waiter did not mention this before we ordered, when we questioned him he said it was normally served cold.,, when we paid the manageress apologised for the cold food, admitted that it should have been served warm, but failed to compensate our complaint. We basically paid $100 for 2 small, cold, averagely flavored main meals, and 2 glasses of wine.

“Underwhelming”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2013

It's OK - food is OK, location ok but just doesn't have the ZIng and polish of the places it competes against. The few times I have been the waitstaff are noticeably under trained as there is always a hint of disdain apparent when they are going about their business. Could be great, has all the ingredients, just needs a good polish
