Myself and 3 friends went to Siena’s during the Beaufort Street Festival as it was the only restaurant that was half empty (I now know why!).
After standing at the door waiting to be seated for 5 minutes we decided to take it into our own hands and chose a table in front of the bar after being told this was ok by the gentleman at the till. 5 minutes went by and I then decided to also get our menus from the waitress desk as not one of the 5 waitresses had brought any over (despite one leaning on the desk as i collected them). Another 20minutes (35minutes since arriving at the restaurant) and after hailing someone down we had first contact and finally our orders were taken, and then we waited…
30minutes went by and we had 2 further friends join out table of now 6 people. We hailed a waitress politely to request their orders be added to our table, the waitress said she would be right back but then proceeded to do 6 laps around the restaurant chatting and clearing tables. We hailed again 10minutes later to be told she would “Do it soon”. Another 5mins and we asked another waitress to take the order who luckily obliged as at this point we were about to walk out. We should have!
20minutes later and our extra 2 guests food had come, however our original order (taken over an hour before) still hadn’t come. We asked a passing drinks server if he could check our order was still coming, however he went straight back to standing behind the bar, so as he came past a second time we asked to speak with the manager. After waiting with no action, one of the members from our table went up to the counter and asked for the manager who discovered that our order had been lost – and would have to be retaken… well over an hour after we first ordered.
Not only had it been lost, and not only did it need to be retaken, but it then took another 10minutes before a waitress came to RE-TAKE our order, which she read out to us to confirm, Only for the completely incorrect food to be delivered 10minutes later.
We finally got the correct meals, ate and left, after a 2.5hr ordeal.
The thing that made it intolerable was the impolite and seemingly hopeless staff, with not one apology for the mishap despite our table being polite the entire time.
We refused to pay full price, which at least wasn’t met with much argument.
Im still gobsmacked.
