“Fantastic steaks and that's all”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013 via mobile

Great restaurant in great location, fantastic steaks and service pretty good, but the price is extreme, just too much for what it really is!

“Nice location, ok food, variable service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013

I had dinner at the Old Swan Brewery Restaurant on New Year's Eve. Hence, we didn't have the ala carte menu and ordered from a set menu instead. Overall the food was ok, not terribly special and average value for the price. I ordered steak for my main course which was a very nice cut of meat but unfortunately served cold and a bit underdone. The ala carte menu looks interesting but is certainty pricey. Service was friendly but not terribly efficient or consistent.

In terms of location, the restaurant is on the ground floor of the Old Swan Brewery and has an open terrace with terrific river views, with nice view of part of the city to the left. Overall, its a nice spot albeit a little on its own as the Old Swan Brewery is a few minutes out of the city.

“Expensive but worth it for exquisite food and location.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

it is hard to fault anything at this restaurant as the location is superb and the food is top quality to match, the proportions are a good healthy size and the staff are very friendly. I would recommend this restaurant highly to carnivores and meat lovers as it is primarily a steak house but they do have some seafood options for the non red meat eaters. obviously with this combination it is expected that you would pay top dollar, but for a treat or a special occasion i think it is well worth it.

“Fine setting at a price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013 via mobile

We went here on Christmas eve. It was a stunning evening so we were able to sit outside. Our waitress was a cheerful English girl who , friendly and helpful though she was , it was obvious that she really didn't have a clue about her menu or the wines. (Something we experienced a lot in the WA region where short term staff were employed extensively without the requisite skills to match the restaurant experience).
The signature dish of the Old Swan is their steak. At $79.00 per steak you felt it would have to be outstanding but to to be 100% honest it was really pretty average and certainly not worth eighty bucks!! However , everything was served with quite some style and panache and it was all very agreeable.

The three of us had entrees , mains , sweet and coffees. We had a decent red wine but not over the top. All told our bill came to $350 for three. Ouch.... It just wasn't good enough to justify this kind of price.
However it was a pleasant place at a pleasant time - but not much better than that.

“Quality comes at a price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

The location on the Swan River is brilliant and if you are lucky to get parking on the same side of the road as the restaurant, then walk along the river path to the entrance. We had the pickled octopus, sticky bbq pork belly and the chilly jerky as starters. Avoid the chilly jerky though the other 2 were nice. The grilled fillet of fish with saffron & eggplant puree, tomato & olive tapenade and potato mash was brilliant. We had the eye fillets from obe beef cattle (reared on the native herbs & grasses from the famous inland delta region known as the channel country which borders queensland, south australia, new south wales & the northern territory). That proved a better choice than the 100 day grain fed Scotch fillet. The eye fillet was excellent quality and cooked to perfection. The meats are pricey but I can understand why. To finish the meal, I recommend the Lavender Creme Brulee.
