“Great Location, and that's about it...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2008

We stayed in a 1 bedroom for 3 nights here. The location was just great!! Walking distance to shopping districts, train stations, free CAT bus stations and even the jetty. The apartment is reasonably spacious and equipped. The aircon in the room is non existent so i doubt it if this would be tolerable in the famous summer heat.

The one thing that bothers me is the cleanliness of the apartment. The carpet didnt look clean enough - even the one at the lobby area. Bed linen and towels were fresh and clean upon arrival but the bed was made in a lousy way every day without changing the linens. Maybe they should skip the so-call service at all.

Another thing to note is, you can never get a taxi outside the hotel on a friday night. The staff tried to call one for us but nothing happened after numerous attempts and 30-min waiting.

We stayed for 4 days in a 2-bedroom apartment in this hotel. Oour first reaction was that it had to be a mistake. We expected a 4-star apartment hotel that was highly rated by the Tripadvisor. The hotel is at best OK and two stars would be a very fair rating in terms of its standard and service. Don't be fooled by the "executive" in its name. Far from the executive standard. The apartment was modestly furnished and the carpets dirty. The mini bar had a large selection of items that were priced like in four or five star hotels including coffee ($5 for a small bag) that was placed outside so you could easily find it. Free instant coffee was hidden in a drawer. The neighborhood is not so great with an adult store next to the hotel. We enjoyed the rest of our trip in the Mullaloo Beach apartment hotel and regreted that we did not stay there all the time.

I and my wife stayed there for four nights after booking on Asiarooms. We had a good 'studio' room with the terrace facing the street, completed with a kitchenette (no cooking stove, bust just a microwave oven was present). The bathroom was large and very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the only issue was that the badge for opening the room door worked once every ten attempts. We just had a look at the gym, it seemed nice and clean.

Regarding the hotel neighborhood, yes the hotel is very central, nevertheless we often met vagrants at night, but they did not bother us.

Overall we enjoyed the hotel a lot would definitely stay there again.

I highly recommend this serviced apartment hotel for young families visiting Perth. The location is excellent, Woolsworth supermarket is just across the street so that is perfect for stocking the fridge. We travelled with 2 kids under 5 and it was just great that I could pop by the shops to get whatever was required.
For those who are driving, you must reserve a carpark with the hotel during reservation, mind you they charge $22 per day! It's NOT complimentary.
Rooms are cleaned daily but sheets are only changed every 2 days and vacumming as well. The only complain we had was that we felt there were insufficient cleaners. We stayed 8 days and on some occassion, the room was not cleaned (we required rubbish bins to be cleared daily) even after we got back at 2pm! The excuse given was that they needed to clean rooms that had checked out.
Another important point to note is that check out time is 10AM! This caused us some inconvenience as we had lots of time to kill until our flight departure at 4pm. Hotel refused to allow check out at 12pm because they were apparently fully booked.
Besides a great location, room size was another big plus for this hotel. We had the 2 bedroom with ensuite toilets and the apartment was very spacious. Kitchen was sufficiently equipped for basic cooking. Microwave, washing machine and dryer are provided. Beds were also comfortable and maintenance was perfect.

  • Liked — apartment size and location
  • Disliked — Check out time 10 am is too early and cleaners can be improved

My company booked me here for a business trip and overall, it was a decent stay. The rooms are well appointed, decorated quite stylishly, but I had trouble figuring out the thermostat and my room got quite stuffy. My particular room faced the interior of the property (not the street) so there was ABSOLUTELY NO NATURAL LIGHT. I needed lamps on at all times to see anything. The kitchen would be quite an asset for long stays.

The restaurant in the lobby is very handy, as the block offers little in real dining. Their menu is good, it's open at reasonable hours, and they'll deliver to your room if you wish. The place turns into a lounge/club in the evenings, so there's quite a bit of noise.

The street leaves a lot to be desired - sex shop next door, run-down businesses, etc., but the internet cafe (the one to the right as you leave the hotel) was a godsend, as the hotel (like most other hotels in Australia) charge a small fortune for internet access. The cafe was dirt cheap and open late. I used it daily.

  • Liked — Stylish Decor, proximity to internet cafe, decent restaurant
  • Disliked — Astronomical Internet Fees, dark room, run-down block

I had read the reviews in TripAdvisor, and was not disappointed with our 3 night stay at the Medina Executive.

We arrived at 1am after a flight from Europe, and found the front desk manned and the staff charming.

The apartment had everything that you could need for a stay, plus a small balcony overlooking the city. The hotel had the gym and pool.

The lifts operate using your room card, and this presented a few problems as the cards tend to get reused over long periods of time, and hence one could have difficulties getting lifts to function. I appreciate that this is a security measure, but it did make traveling by list a bit problematic.

The front desk was very helpful in telling us how to use the train system (we needed it to visit friends in Perth) and answer other tourist questions.

Overall a nice apartment with great staff

As promised and reviewed before, the location is great, right on the eastern end of Hay St Mall and 2 minutes walk to the train station.

We were upgraded to a 2-bedroom, which gave us plenty of space. Bathrooms were well organised, although there was a small crack in one of the sinks. Dishwasher, washing machine and dryer were all available within the suite.

Room was clean and linen good. This was similar to my other experience in Medina Adelaide.

Probably the only glitch during my stay was the car rental arranged by the hotel. I needed a rental for 2 days and they quoted A$100, this was supposed to be a preferential rate by the hotel with Avis and so I took it. It wasn't till I got my credit card bill that I discovered that the quoted rate was per day and not for 2 days, which effectively doubled the charge. I could have gotten a better rate if I had called Avis directly.

I suppose it was partly my fault for not clarifying but also the hotel should also be more upfront when providing third-party services recommended by themselves.
