The Richardson is a nice, modern hotel with a high quality gym and indoor pool, a nice cafe for breakfast and an up market restaurant with an interesting menu and good wine list.
The rooms are spacious and well equipped. We stayed in a deluxe room with an en suite bathroom, separate lounge and kitchenette and chairs out on the balcony - lots of room for a couple. The bathroom was compact, with the shower in the bath rather than separate, but that was a minor point an didn't detract from our stay.
As many others have said, the thing that sets this hotel apart is the service - all of the staff were wonderful and attentive. They offer helpful advice and suggestions, are always happy to assist and make you feel like you're a regular who they've known for ages, despite it being your first night there. We stayed for 3 nights and would definitely recommend it as an alternative to the larger hotels.
While the hotel is more than walking distance from the city centre, this isn't a problem as there is a regular, free bus service running around the centre of the city which stops around the corner from the hotel.
