“Perth's Best Hotel...The Outram!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2006

Fabulous hotel in Perth, Australia. I cannot say enough about the staff...friendly, helpful and cheerful. Full of good information and suggestions. The breakfasts were a highlight and a great way to start the day. The chef was delightful and even let me watch as she prepared canapes for the evening's happy hour.

The property is ideally situated close to the train and at the foot of Kings Park which made for pretty strolls and wonderful sightseeing. The park also has a wonderful gift shop that is not to be missed.

The rooms are comfortable and well planned. We liked the his and her sinks separated by the shower. A good design concept. All modern touches and delightful Molton Brown products. What more could you ask?

Will book the Outram next time I am in Perth. Suggest you stay there too (but not with me)!

This was our first stay at the Outram (2 nights), and certainly won’t be the last.

The hotel is very well placed, not being in the middle of the city by close to Kings Park, and a short cab ride into the city. The rooms are a great size, however in the room that we had, the spa was enormous, but the shower (separate) was small, but acceptable. The bathroom which was open to the bedroom and had a his and hers basin and mirror. Molton brown toiletries

The King size bed was brilliantly comfortable

The staff were wonderful, and the included breakfast was one of the best I have seen, having the ability to choose one of the 6 to 8 al-la-carte dishes, rather than the usual buffet. Breakfast also allowed a sleep in, being served from 8am to 10am.

Unfortunately there is no restaurant, and coming in late meant that we had to search for somewhere to eat as all that could be provided was a dish of the day, (but the night staff found us some bits and pieces that were left overs – and acceptable), and also offered us a complimentary drink.

A great hotel, something out of the ordinary, and being almost new everything is in great condition – would most certainly be back next time we come to Perth.

Stayed here for 4 nights in October and was very pleasantly surprised. Do not be put off by the exterior appearance which reminded us of the Tower of Terror at Disneyworld!
The rooms are very modern and comfortable with a spa bath and two basins and a lovely walk thro shower. Free internet connection for your laptop.
Breakfasts were excellent, as were the complimentary canapes each evening which were all freshly prepared. We also enjoyed the complimentary alcoholic beverage with our canapes.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful with suggestions for days out and restaurants.
The only minor downside of the hotel is its position - it is located in the business district (dead at weekends and after 6 weekdays -as is the centre of Perth at weekends) and there is only one restaurant in the immediate vicinity. We used to walk to the suburb of Subiaco each evening (20 min walk along deserted streets) where there is a wide choice of restaurants. The free "cat" bus which goes to Perth centre and stops outside the hotel stops running at 7pm and a taxi would therefore be necessary to reach Perth centre in the evening.

Stayed in Febuary 2005 shortly after opening. Stayed for the first 5 nights before traveling down to Cape Lodge for a week. We hadn't booked a return hotel in Perth as we wanted to look at a couple of other hotels overlooking the river once we got there. Needless to say, after the first night in the Outram we booked a room for our return to Perth!

The staff were very friendly, with drinks and canapés served on the terrace. Ok so the terrace is onto a street in the business district, but in usual Oz style (work to live!) the streets were dead by 5:15 pm and peace descended.

Bedrooms, though not massive were immaculate, with LCD TV DVD stereo etc, walk in open shower with massive water pressure, 10-man Jacuzzi and comfy beds.

Complimentary breakfast was made to order, and the Juice-Of-The-Day had to be tried.

It doesn't have river views, but is a 2 minute walk from Kings Park and the free Red Fox (?) bus stops every 5 minutes outside the hotel to take you into the centre of Perth inside of 10 minutes.

With so few rooms, the level of attention from the staff is excellent, professional and courteous.

We loved it.

A sensational new boutique hotel - exemplary service from the moment we arrived and were greeted by friendly staff and offered complimentary drinks and canapes on the terrace at sunset.

Rooms were exquisite with contemporary decore and King size beds (definately the finest beds in Perth!).

Complimentary gourmet breakfast prepared personally to order by the Chef, was a delight.

A very special place, our whole experience was absolutely ideal, we will be returning!

The Outram is an all new Small Luxury Hotel (SLH) in Perth. Hotel is located in West Perth near Kings Park - a bit out of the way if you do not rent a car. Rooms are of high standard with a huge jacuzzi that would fit a family. But the half exposed shower has serious splash. Occupancy at end Dec 2004 (just open) was very low, and the broadband internet service was not working. Breakfast, which was good, is included in the expensive room rate. Definitely needs some fine tuning, and a big effort to bring occupancy up. Given the dearth of high class hotels in Perth, this is a good attempt.
