“Basic, clean hotel close to central Perth”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2013

Good points - Close to the city and Swan River. Room adequate if a little small.
Not so good points - Do the staff like working here? They certainly look pretty miserable and are rarely cheerful (although the exception to this are the housekeeping staff who were friendly and helpful). The restaurant staff cannot wait to leave, morning or evening, the breakfast service closed early twice whilst we were there but at least we discovered the nice place to have breakfast across the road! The one occasion we ate there in the evening a member of staff waited for my daughter to finish her wine so he could take the glass, at 9pm!!
If you can ignore the sullen staff and eat out, then this hotel is fairly well located and reasonably priced for central Perth.

Go here if you are low on the $, its clean, safe and simple, and nothing else.

Service=eh, umm, very basic-like kissing your sister if you are desperate, the cleaning staff are the most friendly people in the building!
Modern=no, expect little and you will be fine, think Grand-mom's house, it's old school!
Clean=hell yes-this they do this well!
Quiet=if you like white noise, the room has a great AC and I was on the street, slept ok after getting used to the lumpy bed, but otherwise, maybe not.
Restaurants=down below, Blue rocks, or whatever, $$, looks nice, SOLID food (seriously), but nobody goes there, too bad, liked the people, cool manager and wait staff.
Hood=sleepy sort of, there are 2-3 bars withing 2 blocks, 2 liquor stores, and 2 mom and pop old school super markets.
Transport=free bus!
Wifi=Bipolar technology, sometimes on, sometimes off
Hot Water=Damn, I think there is a radiator that lets you know it's pissed if you are using the hot water.

Worth the $? 50/50
I lean yes. It's got a kitsch factor that I like, and in Perth where every hotel is so affordable (cough cough), it does the job. Seriously, Perth has so much to offer, that every hotel should
be expensive (hack, wheez, cough!!)

Room Tip: Do not pay for dry cleaning, it's a rip off!! Wash place is just 1 block away. I'd check ou...

Good sized room, comfy bed and clean and tidy. Good price for expensive Perth and located a 10 minute walk from the city centre. Very friendly reception staff. However quite a lot of noise from air con units outside my window, and on a weekend the pub across the road can get quite noisy. Ear plugs helped with getting a good sleep.

We stayed here for one night. Midweek accommodation is expensive in Perth & we chose this hotel as it had reasonable midweek rates. The reception staff were friendly and helpful.

Our room was clean although fairly basic and a bit dated. It was a good size with an entrance area with shelves for two suitcases & a large cupboard. The room had a flat screen TV with a couple of free movie channels & tea/coffee making facilities.

Unfortunately we did not sleep well even with the window closed as there was a lot of industrial noise with our room being on the first floor next to the lift well and outside were air-conditioning units which were noisy all night.

Basic accommodation which I am used to for the price in Perth but some reception staff need an attitude check. I stay with choice hotels almost every other week with work, the night receptionist made no attempt at acknowledgement when I entered the hotel after only checking out 1 night previously. She was then unhelpful when I called and questioned my room set up as it was apparently different to what she had on her computer. Reception is the first impression, she left me with a bad one. Lose the attitude and maybe crack a smile.. Reception should be just that, a warm reception.

We had a king studio room. Couch and bed were comfortable. Good base from which to explore Perth, only 10mins walk to the city.
Attached restaurant is reasonable, but there are plenty of restaurants and coffee shops within easy walking distance.
May stay there again but i think better value can be found at the duxton
Staff (reception) could certianally do with lessons in customer SERVICE. Ticking boxes may be technically good but that is not service.
We just came from a holiday in africa where SERVICE is king.
