After requesting a quiet, intimate table for two ( our anniversary ) we were taken to an area with a table of twelve & another table of eight & crammed in the corner was a table for two. I dont know how the waiter would have got through without us being hit. We were re-seated to a booth then ignored. We finally managed to order some wine that came after our meal arrived! Not once was our water topped up or asked if we would like more wine. We nearly did'nt bother with dessert as it was obvious we were being ignored. There are only two toilets, one for the disabled, the other unisex. I went into the main lobby to find the ladies. The food was average. We wont go back. Bring back the days when we had fine dining & it was a real treat to go out.

Amazing decor, friendly efficient service and beautiful food. Only criticism was overpriced wine. We will go back though....its too good not to!

“Pleasant Casual Dining”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2013

My wife and I heard good reports about this Bistro and overall were not disappointed. It seemed as though half of Perth were at Crown - parking at a premium, way out in the "grounds" and a long hike back. "Oganisation" showed parking is obviously a common problem, not yet resolved! The Bistro service was very good, with a French waitress who was attentive, knew her menu & wines and added the French touch. It was fairly busy, so delivery sometimes required another reminder. The decor was fresh. A table near the window, overlooking the pool on a very warm evening, what better? We had a Blue Crab and an Octopus salad entree, which were fresh, well presented and good flavours. The mains, snapper and leg of duck were good, with the duck perhaps just a fraction too long in the oven. Flavours were all very good. We were not going to have dessert, but a French Bistro with Apple Tarte and Souffle, who could resist? We should have, neither was really special nor to the standard of the previous courses. The Jean Luc Mader red was pleasant. Overall it was an enjoyable evening, made all the more "interesting" with the owner, Neil Perry and Rob Broadfield sitting on the outdoor balcony enjoying a quiet evening fussed over by Maitre et al. - Maybe that was why the desserts, etc. were not quite what we would have expected?
Cost was bordering on the upper side to value, but with these few improvements, it would not be an issue.
Definitely on our list of better establisments to return to for good food and a pleasant evening!

“Lovely French restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2013

Went here recently to celebrate my birthday. Glad I didn't read some of the previous reviews or we might not have gone!! We must have hit a good night because our meal was lovely. There were four of us and we all ordered different a different entree - they were all lovely! We are into sharing so I tried the smoked salmon, octopus, escargots and oysters - no problem with any of them - all delicious and beautifully presented. Our mains were also delicious - two had steak, one venison and one duck - all great. A bottle of red to accompany the meal - all good! Service was helpful and professional - a very sweet French girl who was very knowledgeable about the meals and wine and very pleasant. Too full for dessert - but that is not a problem - I probably don't need to eat dessert anyway!! Our experience here was good and I would recommend it on that count - not cheap, but food quality was excellent.

“Upmarket in Perth”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2013

This is a fine dining establishment with good food, good service and a reasonable wine list. It also has a price to match or exceed.it is hard to pay over 150dollars for a local wine which retails for under 40. We enjoyed the experience with good friends. Is it brilliant as the prices would suggest? No. Is it value? Maybe. Would I go again? Probably not. There is much better value around. Then again as a visitor to the Perth casino there is little competition.
