“Sensational”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2013

Love Love Love this place.
I could not fault anything from the food, the service, the location and the pricing.
Three girlfriends shared a long awaited catch up this night and it was just perfect.
There is parking nearby and it is situated handy to the train station. Upon arrival I was directed to one of the best locations, at the front near a window with comfortable lounge style seating around a table. The interior is wharehouse style but certainly is warm and welcoming.
After ordering a bottle of white and red which were reasonable priced we searched their fabulous menu and settled upon three different dishes to share.
Every dish was beautifully presented and the flavours were all devine. These included Shasimi Scallops, Soft Shell Crab and a Crispy Salad with Crispy Wontons.
After devouring these we ordered another three dishes which included Wagyu Beef Tataki, Salmon Sashimi and Pan Fried Mushrooms. The entire mix of dishes was perfect.
The service was fabulous with staff able to inform us of the content of these dishes and attentive to refilling our wine glasses and our water glasses.
The menu explains how to get the best from the menu with the most favourite dishes.
The Bonsai shines out in service, quality of food and wine and the overall atmosphere for a wonderful dining experience.
I will be re-visiting often!!

“Beautiful place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2013

The way the venue is set out is fantastic - it's a little rustic and has a warehouse sort of feel, but it is very nice. The food is absolutely amazing! The staff are well informed and extremely welcoming. Pricing is reasonable as well. We shared a variety of the hot, cold & fried shares: salmon sashimi bites, red wine pork belly kakuni, takoyaki, creamy prawn spring-rolls and oyster panko - all so fresh and yummy! I would not hesitate to return.

“A lovely surprise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2013

One of our adult daughters recommended this restaurant. Walking into the venue we were pleasantly surprised by its spaciousness, attractive decor and modest noise level. It seems there are not many venues in Perth which can boast these three features.

The food is Japanese with a twist, which added to the enjoyment. The menu includes many dishes which are designed to be shared. Given the "tapas" size of the dishes it is recommended that 2-3 dishes per person are ordered. We and two friends opted for "share" dishes: salmon sashimi bites, pan fried mushrooms with karashi-su-miso sauce, Cajun spiced baby squid, beef asparagus (we ordered a second plate of this because we enjoyed the first so much), agedashi eggplant and mochi, crispy skin duck (two serves because it was so good), steamed rice. The flavours were great, interesting and accessible.
The wait staff were young, friendly and quite attentive. It was refreshing to find this level of service from young waitresses.
We also enjoyed being able to have a conversation without struggling to hear what the person on the other side of the table was saying.
The cost was reasonable too.
This is a place that we have recommended to others. We shall be returning in the near future.
