“Expensive, with poor service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2013

Leeuwin Estate for lunch is usually a high point of family trips "down South" in WA. On a recent occasion, the hostile and deliberately unhelpful service overshadowed the lovely setting, great wine and good food. The high prices (we spent about $1000) should be accompanied by genuine hospitality. We were unimpressed by the maitre d and by our waiter - both of whom were rude.

“Another Fantastic Lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

We visited Leeuwin Estate again for lunch, one of many visits. It struck me that although we have visited many times, I could not recall having a bad meal. The most recent lunch was truly exceptional in terms of food quality, presentation and taste. To make your visit even more memorable contact Harry at Helispecs on 0448094422 and make your entrance at Leeuwin by helicopter in true rich and famous style.

“Worth a visit...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012 via mobile

Interesting winery set well off the main road; very green and lush. Art Gallery and tasting area separate to restaurant.
Interesting decor/ unfortunately hot and in comfortable on the deck- fortunately lots of chilled water available! We elected to celebrate NYE over lunch- a very long leisurely lunch....a crisp Chardonnay accompanied our meals and cooled our palates.
Menu selection provides something for everyone...starters of goats cheese soufflé (OMG!); freshly shucked oysters;
scallops and salmon sashimi all declared delicious! The pork belly did not disappoint when mains arrived; a marbled tender scotch fillet steak and the yabbies (messy but apparently delish).
Generous servings and sides of crisp green beans/ shoestring fries and a leafy salad.
Finally a table inside! With the comfort of air con we elected to stay on...
An espresso affogato for 1 and cheese board for 3: simple and artfully presented- a bottle of Cab Sav.
Later more espressos- good coffee so important after such a meal.
Overall very pleasant and undoubtably better on a cooler day. Happy New Year!

“Fab food, less keen on the wines. Amazing grounds!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2012 via mobile

The food was excellent and so were the wait staff. The wines however were not as good as some of the other vineyards (Vasse Felix, in particular), however, this is a very personal view. Most people love this place and I too think that it is a great place to visit - just make sure you make it to some of the other great places too!

“We came for the marron, but had yabbies instead”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2012

Not the season for marron, unfortunately, but the yabbies were a huge portion, and absolutely amazing.
So flavoursome!
Of course the wines to match we delicious also, recommended by the very professional and helpful (and good looking) sommelier, JC.
