I had five nights at the Ibis Styles Perth in early May.
The hotel is located north of the CBD in Northbridge, which is Perths entertainment district. It is around 25 mins (or $30 in a taxi) from the domestic airport or around 6 mins drive from the city. The hotel is located on Robinson St which is one way so it cannot be accessed from William St if driving.
The reception staff were very help and understanding as the company had managed to book and then cancel my stay before I even got there but it was sorted out the next morning. It is a three storey building with the rooms located on the first and second floors. I ha d room on the first floor and found it very spacious and quiet. The room had a window or at least what appeared to be one but in fact it was an alcove with a picture in it. This didn’t bother me too much as the room smelt fresh and the air con worked well. The bathroom was a little dated but not bad and the room had an empty mini bar. I had guests either side of me but one of them was quite noisy when they got up, slamming doors etc. Other than that I never heard a thing.
Breakfast was very nice. The continental option consisted of fresh and canned fruit, cereals, juice and toast etc. For an extra $11 you could have the cooked breakfast which looked quite nice with a mix of sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs etc. There were also two or three computers in the foyer with internet access which was charged at $2 per 20 mins. I think there may have been free wifi but can’t remember for sure.
As I mentioned, Northbridge is the entertainment district for Perth and the hotel is on the edge of this. It is surrounded by primarily Asian restaurants and grocery stores (I tried the Vietnamese restaurant on the corner and it was excellent). If you want to head into town it is approx ten to fifteen minutes by foot into the CBD. It often seemed quicker to walk than drive, particularly in peak hour.
Overall I thought it was a very good hotel with the only downfall being the location but this of course is depending on what you are after. I certainly wouldn’t have a problem staying there again.
