“Excellent value and central location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2010

The staff are very helpful and welcomeing. Although the hotel is not new, the deluxe double we stayed in was spacious, well kept and very clean. The bedding was very comfortable and we enjoyed the view from our balcony.

We stayed at Sullivans on the first and last night of our trip. I found it to be a clean and simple hotel. The rooms are a reasonable size for the price you pay and have spotless white bedding on the comfortable beds. We ate in the light and airy restaurant and found the food to be well cooked and the portions are quite adequate. Staff on reception and in the restaurant were helpful and friendly. The one computer in the lobby is popular but we were able to use it even if it invoved a wait.
The free cat bus stops right outside the hotel every few minutes until 6 p.m. and you are in the city in a few minutes.
Sullivans is good value for money if you want a simple , clean hotel. Breakfast was good with a reasonable choice on offer. I would definitely stay here again .

Stayed there one night on a quick trip through Perth with my wife and my parents. We stayed in a "family room" which was rather cramped with the four of us, but we were trying to save a bit of money in the expensive Perth hotel scene, and I knew what I was getting into. The beds were quite comfortable, and we had no problem with noise. The bathroom could use some updating, as for those who are a bit shorter, the shower experience was a fine misting.

We also enjoyed the location - the 10-15 minute walk to the CBD posed no problems for us, and we chose not to use the shuttle so we could enjoy the exercise. I enjoyed the breakfast buffet which we had booked along with the room. It was a much better value breakfast than one I saw at another Perth hotel about a week later for roughly double the price.

I would likely stay there again for the value, location, and free parking if I wanted to be close to the central city.

Having stayed in Sullivans Hotel for four nights in April, I cannot understand the negartive reviews. We found it to be a lovely, comfortable and friendly place, with rooms being serviced every day. Little added touches like chocolate being left in the room every day was a lovely treat. Free bikes for anyone who wanted to sight see, availing of the miles or cycle paths around the city was also a bonus. Irma on reception could not be nicer, and told us about nearby places to visit, which were easily accessable by train. As far as the smell of cat pee, not once did my husband and I get even the slightest sniff. I would admit that the air conditioning is a bit noisy, and would have to be turned off at night if one were a light sleeper, but we had a nice room with a comfy bed . As far as the breakfasts go, we throughly enjoyed them every morning, and felt they were great value, especially the full breakfast, and the dining room staff was very friendly and cheerful. The location is superb, near Kings Park, and while the CAT blue bus stops outside the hotel which is very convenient, we walked to the city after the first morning. The walk from the hotel by river is a lovely walk, and if one were up for it, there are fitness machines placed in two seperate green areas along the walkway, where one can work out for free. The possibility of our flight being cancelled due to the erupting volcano was a problem for us for a couple of days, but having spoken again to Irma, she said it was no problem to book us in for a extended stay, and we could cancel at little notice, without any further cost. We would certainly stay there again, and would recommend to a friend.

Previous reviewers are correct... dirty corridors and smelly. BASIC amenities in the room, acceptable but do not buy the breakfast (not value for money at all). SERVICE from the staff is basic -both at the front desk and elsewhere! Do not expect someone to help you with your luggage! Also depending on who it is manning the front desk, local knowledge is variable... so research for yourself on bus schedules, destination in advance.
Perth has FREE buses in the CBD... so getting to the Convention Center (10 mins walk) on the Blue CAT bus is easy -but this services stops by 1800+hrs. Other buses exist but not so convenient! The "FREE" internet is limited to 100MB per 24 hrs... which is not enough in today's day to day need for most of us. Additional MBs is very expensive.
The swimming pool is more for children! Find somewhere else if you have time!

Stayed here for 2 nights and wouldn't come back to be honest. As other reviews have pointed out before the rooms and corridors smell of cat-pee and it's quite a long walk to the CBD with the last bus at 6:20pm.
We booked a 2-bedroom apartment which is in fact two separate rooms with one of them having a kitchenette. Strangely enough you are not allowed to bring any food or drinks into the hotel, so what's the kitchenette for then ??? Free Wifi is limited to 100MB per day, a bit stingy, isn't it?
Double bed was very small and room very cramped leaving absolutely no space to move around. Shower is a joke really, it's like standing outside on a foggy morning and waiting to get wet, didn't work for us. Keep looking for other options...

We booked a family room for two children and two adults. We were only planning to stay two nights on way to Albany and when we saw the cramped room and basic bathroom we were glad we didn't stay any longer. We also found one of the reception staff very unfriendly and unhelpful. Not one smile. Unfortunately we left something in the room and when we called the hotel, the same person was rude and would not get someone to look for it unless we promised to pay postage. After several phone calls and request to talk to the manager she relented. Very disappointing.
