“Great attraction”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2014

I visited the Perth mint twice. This time I brought my children to the Perth mint to show them the process of gold mining and how they process this precious metal into coins or jewelry. My kids enjoyed the trip and made their own souvenir gold coins as remembrance of their visit.

“Pure gold”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2014

First time ever seeing gold being melt and formed into a gold bar which when coming out looked so lustre. Yummy!
Surprise to hear the spent pot (used to cook gold) worth $200 of gold; even the floor, chimney, wall and ceiling of the working area would contain gold residue after long duration. That was to show and confirm how value gold is.
It could be hot for some as the gold pouring show progressed.

The sale area contains a lot of valuable items, but somehow most were imports which was a surprise and disappointed as one thought it would be all about Australian mint products that have been advertising through those catalogues.
The sale area was very comfortable with air con especially if you came in from the outside hot Perth summer weather.

Limited access to certain areas only, and no cameras allowed in those. But the front garden and outside building was ok for them. There were some interesting statues in the garden and some replicas of famous golden nuggets.

Good for an hour or so.

“We went specifically for the gold pour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2014

Due to the renovations, the prices are $5 per adult and $2 per child. I think that is for a tour AND the gold pour. We wanted just the gold pour so paid our $14, walked straight in to the gold pour 'show', watched the 20 minutes of action and left very happy.

“Go if you have nothing else to do”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2014

We went there in december 2013 and after the tour we felt little bit disappointed. Tour the guide gave us was very short, but still OK. Show about pouring gold was the best part, yet still little bit too short. But for the price it was ok, at least I didn't feel like ripped off. But the store they have there in my opinion is way too pricey!

“Not worth it due to renovations”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2014

We visited with a family pass ($38.00) and not once where we advised of the renovations until after when my husband went up to counter to enquire where the rest of the tour was. We would have preferred to save our pass for a day that the Mint was fully open and get our money's worth. The gold pour was great but the kids wanted more than and a 15 min talk and a gold pour. They where looking forward to seeing the largest gold coin and the large nugget and spending a few hours at the Mint instead of 30 mins.
