We booked the Pan Pacific because we had stayed in the Pan Pacific in Bali - which was incredible. I had been told by Amex travel that the Pan Pacific in Perth had recently been renovated. Pan Pacific Perth had a 5 star rating, so we couldn't go wrong.
Unfortunately, I really was not impressed by this hotel. On arrival, after a long flight, the porter was less than welcoming (it really was just the one, a number of other porters were very polite as we left and entered the hotel), but it didn't start our stay the way I had anticipated. Taking our bags to the room was more of an inconvenience than part of his job, he asked "do you want me to take your bags, or are you right" ... really, 5 stars, come on!
We made our way through a lovely 5 star foyer and reception area, where the staff were excellent, and up to our room. Our very 4 star room with a 3 star bathroom. It was clean but the carpet needs to be replaced and the bathroom needed a major overhaul. The vanity unit was chipped, the painting poor, the bathroom difficult to navigate, and if you are older, you will find it very difficult to get in and out of the bath/shower. The room is just not to a five star standard. This room has not been renovated and I hope that it is on the list for the foreseeable future.
The hotel is a little bit out of the main CBD area, but the free shuttle bus system in Perth is fantastic and makes moving around very easy. Being a GHA discovery member, I was able to get free wi-fi and a bottle of water daily, which is a bonus.

My sincere thanks for your review and I am delighted to note that you have also stayed at our sister property Pan Pacific Nirwana Bali resort- a truly spectacular property in an ideal location having recently been refurbished.
I must apologise for the less than welcoming arrival experience that was accorded to you by the porters which I have certainly taken up with the porters and the management team as this is not the arrival experience we strive to deliver. First impressions do truly have lasting memories and it is never pleasing to receive such negative comments but I can assure you this is something we take very seriously and please be assured that we will indeed do everything we are able to, to make sure that should you choose to return, your total stay, including your arrival experience will be to the standard you would expect from a five star establishment.
