3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2014

Very disappointed in this hotel. Reception both arriving and leaving made it appear that they were doing you a favour by allowing you to stay at the hotel. Wi Fi is charged at 18dollars per day. Breakfast has to be the worst that I have experienced anywhere in the world. Dirty tables, poor selection of cooked food and very poor quality. Tea and coffee served in mugs, which is fine but if you requested a tea pot of tea there is an extra charge. The bedroom was on the tired side.
Excellent bed, good work area in bedroom. Not one to recommend

Room Tip: Not sure because this was our first visit and we certainly will not return to try other rooms

Great customer service, clean and comfortable room and join the free rewards program to get great discounts. Breakfast was nice. Good location right near the malls and King street for the fashionistas

I spent a total of 7 weeks at Rydges Perth over 3 stays in two months. Excellent location, friendly and helpful staff and great rooms. Rydges is in the heart of Perth's West End and is surrounded by laneway cafes and bars and is only one block from Brookfield Place and all the stylish bars and restaurants there also. The key is to join the Rydges Priority Rewards program and then book an executive king room on one of the upper floors. Corner rooms 1304 and 1313 have 3 large windows with floor to ceiling drapes. Both have rooms with views across Northbridge and the northern suburbs. The staff were excellent: Clare, Jeema, Sanga (as in sandwich haha), Cam (hey buddy) Julia and of course Junie my favourite housekeeper on the 13th floor. Always happy, helpful and with their warm smiles - especially nice when you're away from home for so long. Thanks guys.

Peter,

Such great comments - thank you for taking the time to post on Trip Advisor. I will indeed pass on your kind words to Sanga, Clare, Jeeana, Cameron & June.

Really appreciate you chose Rydges as your home away from home for such a lengthy period of nights. I hope we see you back at Rydges Perth one day soon.

Stay here regularly on business. Great hotel that's smack bang in the middle of the CBD. Some of the higher end hotels are a longer walk/bus from the centre of town. This hotel is so handy, you can pop back to you 'hotel office' between meetings.

I love a recently revoted 5 star property, but choose this hotel based on because of how convenient it is time after time. Great value for money too given how pricey Perth can be when events are in town etc..

Wi-fi always reliable and quick, front office staff always friendly and obliging... I've even had items left in the room promptly sent via express post within hours of leaving!

Only downside is no on site gym. But one located next door in the arcade - just take your room key.

Room Tip: Most natural light when you face Hay St

My Finance and I stayed here recently as we had an event to go to in the city.

From the get go we had a few issues. Our access cards didn't work properly, after 4 or 5 unsuccessful attempts of trying to get to our floor in the lift, someone from house keeping let us up. Once up there, the access cards wouldn't let us in our room! After a bit of a wait at the reception desk, we finally had our key and were able to get in.

We stayed in a club level king room. The rooms are very tired and out dated. The bathroom was not in the cleanest condition, and smelt quite musky.

Upon returning to our room that night after our event, we decided to order room service for dinner (around 9.30pm). Whilst our food was quite yummy, they forgot a side dish (chips & aioli). Our chips arrived about 25 minutes later, without the aioli again. We contacted reception desk to have someone bring it up to our room, after just an hours wait, still nothing. We contacted the reception desk again and was told someone would bring it straight up..it never arrived! So cold unseasoned chips that went straight into the bin!

Our sleep was quite interrupted, there was so much noise on our floor, partly due to other guests.

We also arranged for room service breakfast the next morning, in which half of it was missing! Was not impressed.

We had a late checkout of 1pm, but left around 10.30am instead due to an unpleasant stay.

For the price of the room, we expected more..DO NOT stay unless your okay with paying top price for less than average accommodation.

We visited Australia to follow the Ashes in Perth, Melbourne and Sydney and picked the Rydges hotel when planning our trip last February. We weren't disappointed. The hotel was ideally located in Perth CBD, we were able to walk to the WACCA each day. There was a good choice of bars and restaurants within walking distance in the evening. Rooms are spacious, clean and quiet. All staff were helpful and pleasant. The Hotels bar was an ideal place to have a drink and sit and people watch in the evening. Wifi is extra, but if you join the Rydges loyalty scheme, which is free, you can get 50% off the cost and also get discount off drinks and food within the hotel. This hotel was an ideal choice for the first stage of our trip.

If you are thinking of staying here and have a Debit Card you will be treated as a cash customer. I had to give Debit card details (do not own a credit card), $200 bond for the minibar and additional room charges and was expected to pay cash for any meals purchased. I have been staying here for years as a guest and had never been 'chased' for cash before. If you have a credit card you will be fine - its a great location, comfy bed and usually a great place to stay with polite staff. But seriously, on the weekend if you dont have a credit card, take plenty of cash. I was asked several times to pay.

Room Tip: Ask for one that overlooks the city, there are rooms that look straight at brick walls. Also check i...

Many thanks for your comments and your opinions regarding payment methods. I apologise for the issues you encountered, however do wish to say these measures have been in place for a number of months now and generally guests understand that payment is required for your accommodation on arrival. The ability to charge to your room is then governed by a credit card authority or some form of bond - fully refundable on departure if not used.

Again I apologise if the information was not passed on properly

Graeme
