We travelled to Perth from Sydney for a weeks break staying three nights at the Langley. The rooms have been recently renovated - they have gone for a 'Westin' style of room.
Have to admit, as we were touring, we didn't spend a great deal of time at the hotel but as they go, it’s not bad. Its close to everything you need - the Swan River, Barrack Street Wharfs (boats to Fremantle & Rottnest) and close to both the city and Northbridge (great places for dinner).
The rooms are comfortable however we found that it was a little noisy - could hear the people next door to us and also the sewer system was loud - sounded like the tap was running all night - definitely close your bathroom door at night !
The hotel has a lobby bar, restaurant, and an Irish bar attached. The Irish bar is great for a beer after a long days site seeing. The restaurant is OK - try it if you can't come up with a better option or are being lazy otherwise avoid.
I'd recommend it if you are not planning to stay loads of time in your room - not bad for a day or two.
We stayed for 4 nights and were very impressed by the service from all staff and from the front desk receptionists, in particular from DEE. Hotel is central for all aspects of Perth, rooms well appointed, comfortable, clean and quiet, just what we wanted after a long flight. We have recommended the hotel to our travel agent in the U.K.
I don't mean great location because it's close to stuff; I mean that you can actually drive in and out of the hotel (on the wrong side of the road and on the wrong side of the car) without causing 5 accidents. I originally had a reservation for the Criterion Hotel but as soon as I got off the plane (22 hour flight no less-- then 5 more to Perth) I was disoreinted and tired and having never driven an Ozzie Mobile, I almost wrecked. Suffice it to say, downtown Perth is a nightmare to drive in, but the Novotel is located right off a quiet street.
The rooms are really really nice, the bathrooms are big and the beds comfy. I ordered room service once- the restaurants in perth are pretty far from the hotel, and I wouldn't have eaten in their cheesy hotel restaurant (although it's the same food, but who wants to sit next to yapping children and their too-indulgent parents)- and the food was decent.
The rooms are spotless and the housekeeping staff is helpful and efficient.
The receptionists were really really nice and professional and deserve to get raises!
All in all, a great stay-- highly recommended; wouldn't have stayed anywhere else. If you plan on renting a car, DO NOT stay in Central Perth (that is, the Hay Street area) you will NOT be able to turn left or right or anything-- stay at the Novotel because they have plenty of parking and I got a space no matter what time I came back.
Excellent hotel, right on the edge of the beautiful swan river. Situated in a nice quiet area, about 10 mins walk to the centerer of Perth.
Just 5 mins walk from the hotel, along the banks of the Swan River, and you are at the ferry terminals that take you to Fremantle, Rottenest Island and other lovely places.
Hotel room was perfect, with a great views of the river. Lovely and clean, with modern decor. Great facilities, including a full size fridge! Friendly staff.
Only downside was that there was no safe in the room, but this was no great problem for us really.
When booking the holiday, we got a package with free breakfast every morning which was excellent, as they had everything imaginable to eat. (Although I don't think breakfast was that badly priced anyway)
Nice quiet bar, within the hotel which sold lovely cocktails :) and Irish pub next door which sold nice cheap meals, and traditional Aussie beer!
Lovely area on top floor, with gym, and male/female separate saunas.
Indoor spa pools also on the top floor, with the most beautiful, panoramic views of the Swan River. Sun terraces too.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone. It was perfect for us as a couple, and in an excellent location for everything we wanted to do in and around Perth.
